We got these oh so concerned friends that thought that my grandchildren would not be socialized because my daughter was home schooling them. How annoying that is. The crap that children are exposed to in public schools is rather detrimental to their development. Dana's kids are so well educated and adjusted they have the most awesome life. Mum is now a CFII with her own flying school. She trained her oldest son to be a commercial pilot, the little boys and the girls are at home running the place so mum can fly and write books. Plus they're in Texas, that in itself is awesome. My wife and I were there February last year. Lets see what the future will bring for all of us. Wolf

Hi my name is Kay. I live in Queensland, Australia with my husband. I’m 61 years old and trying to get my life back after losing my job for 18 months, because of pandemic mandates. We sold our house because of this. We purchased 5 acres of land and are starting from scratch. It has been hard and I’ve been working on getting my head in the right mind space. I love what you guys are doing and I too am looking towards a self sufficient journey, seeking out tips along the way. I’m working again in education trying to get enough money to do what we want on the land. Maybe a shed house down the track.

At some point the chickens will obliterate all plant and invertebrate life in a generous run even with access to compost. A chicken tractor/coop on wheels (with a re-moveable floor) could be parked inside the main run, and wheeled out during the day to patches of virgin ground. Here in Ohio our flock ran free and got locked in the coop at night. We lost chickens to predators (Foxes, coons, Red Tailed Hawks, but infrequently rarely because we always kept a big aggressive cock. Girls only is much more peaceful, however. Martens are a whole different level. Let alone bears.

We have had chickens in TN for 2 years with no issues. Once a Weasel/Marten finds out the chickens are there they will be relentless. We had the bottom of the barn so tight a worm wasn't getting in. They found a way in through the roof. We now have a useless 3 stall barn and we are heartbroken over our chickens that were lost. Our remaining chickens are now in the shed and the barn is storage. Consider a shed for sleeping with a door opening to a run during the day. These creatures only come out at night and what they leave behind is very hard to look at.

Hey Jake my friend don't get too uppity okay because of new technologies that allow you to get paid so you can take your family all over the world okay because if the electricity goes off you won't be making any money to take them anywhere, and a lot of other people won't be doing much either. I'm sure you're grateful for the things that you have but to state that you have a problem with comments and the people out here that are making a living for you to be able to do what you do off-grid it's actually a little hateful sounding.

Have been in tune with you guys for many years, feel the need to share a cartoon from possibly a decade ago, it was as big as your palm. Green grassy mounds at the bottom, blue skies above with strange shaped clouds. The person on the right side laying on the grass had their arm pointing up at the clouds, their speech bubble reads, Look at that one, it looks like a Horse. Another person on the left side, also with their arm pointing at the clouds, their speech bubble reads, My phone says an Elephant u guys Michael.

Hi Jake, I know you wanted to know these things on the live and it's been a minute since that concluded. I am watching from just north of Destin, Florida. I love anything off the grid. I was injured in 2017 and have had a cascade of medical problems since. I could see myself doing what your family is doing or maybe sailing and living off of the land and sea both. I am now living through ppl like you now and I have to accept that I will not ever get to do these things so thank you so much for making these videos.

Totally agree with your socialization remarks. Funny, about the current abilities, I am 67, gave my nephew(now 14, but around 10 then) a birthday card with Love, Aunt Mary in cursive. He had no idea what it said because he was never taught cursive. He invited me to play games on his system. I let him know I had no idea how to work the controls. He was shocked. He thought everybody knew how to work that system. So much has changed in the last 100 years. It is nice to see you teaching your son.

Good ideas and a beautiful family Jake.
Hi to Nicole and birthday wishes.
Oh to be young again. I have 2acres and 3 buildings. 1 1000sq ft house, 200sq ft shed and a floorless(because of ground hog invasion leading to termites, wood ants invasion) 13x12 shanty (1st home for parents while they built the house.
I need a helper to get this all cleaned up and hopefully off grid. Big plans. Little me.
Blessings to you all. It looks great Jake!

Love how you both keep fit, eating healthy, & being one with nature is awesome! We are between 50 & 63 in our household. Keep up the great work! Also, love your intro song to your videos. I looked up the group to see who it was and never heard of them before, so thanks for that

Hello from NJ - I am a retired nurse and have watched you since the move to Vancouver Island and building the yurt. I have always enjoyed watching you and your family build your life, however the past two videos are missing the excitement of watching you build. You explained what your plan is but I am getting anxious to see it actually happen. Looking forward to see the building begin! Also miss seeing Nicolle.

Hay Jake. I am in Greece and watch you long ago, before Fox was born! I enjoy very much your dedication to what you are doing. By the way I am 78 years old and I can assure you that there is lots of value in what you are striving for. I wish To Nichol and you all the best and enjoy your family as it grows with you and your beautiful values.

Your kids will be way better off without socializing with other kids because you don’t know how the parents raise the other kids and they don’t need to get ideas from other kids. I think the way you’re racing. Your kids are the best and those are the people don’t know what they’re talking about that say that kind of shit. You’re doing a great job Jake keep it up.

I know of other people that have chickens where there’s cougars but they have a livestock guardian dog and it’s like almost 200 pounds and they have no problem taking care of the chickens they scare bears and cougars so get a livestock guardian dog with your other two dogsand I’ll protect your sheep and goats. Also they usually like to sleep with goats or sheep.
