The Touareg is the largest Volkswagen SUV you can buy, and it s just had a mid-life facelift! But how much has actually changed? Well, Mat s got his hands on one to find out Starting with the design, it still looks pretty similar to the last edition, although there are a few notable differences. Starting at the rear, the Touareg now comes with a full-length light bar and a redesigned bumper. Along the side, there are some new alloy wheel designs, and all new editions of the Touareg come with black roof bars. You ll find a redesigned grille, an updated bumper, and some new headlight designs. What s more, these now come as Matrix LEDs! Step inside and the design is pretty similar to the last edition, but that s not necessarily a bad thing! There are soft-touch materials throughout the large cabin, and all cars now come with a large infotainment screen that also has some updated graphics. The car we have here also has a nice, large digital dial display which is very easy to read. There are a number of engines available with the Touareg. You can get a 3-litre V6 turbo petrol that has 340hp, and then there are two hybrid models. They use the same 3-litre V6, and while one produces 380hp, the other produces 460hp - the latter car is the high-performance R model, no less! There is also a choice of two diesel engines available, both of which are 3-litre V6 turbo diesel. The all-new Touareg starts from around 68, 000, but is it worth it! Or should you choose a competitor like the BMW X5 instead? You ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

condensation: when reported as a fault, on a Skoda Octavia (2021, it was explained (in the service, that this isn't a bug, but a feature. in order to match the external atmospheric pressure, VAG headlights have breather holes (similarly to airline double/triple sheet windows. as long as the condensation is on the surface, like a misty layer, it's ok. the heat of the headlights should evaporate them and it'd not cause any damage. but if the water/condensation amount turns into a puddle in the headlights (or any lights for that matter, it needs to be addressed and it's probably the result of a crack (and not just the breather hole.
this was a Skoda Service explaining this issue.

The Original Lexus Rx 450h 3. 5v6, was a FAR FAR BETTER CAR THAN THIS! Far more luxurious, far more comfort, and a lot easier to drive! I could'nt get to grips with their touch screen controls either, finding the whole set-up rather confusing tbh! I actually road tested both and opted for the Lexus Rx over the VW! VW still have a lot to learn from the Japanese point blank!

It should be illegal for essential operational items in a car to be digital instead of a press or turn button knob. AC and climate control, Radio volume, Climate. It's just as dangerous for the driver to be doing these things as texting on a cell phone. When will German vehicles get reliable and not be a total pain to own outside of warranty?

What did they do to my former suitor? I owned one of the first imported to the US in 2004. Had a Touareg get together of members of the Touareg forum. Had 10-15 parked on my front lawn. V8. Loved it. Put almost 200k miles before parting ways. Guys on forum imported stop start button, paddle shifters, it was awesome.

Remember that the people who prefer screen climate controls are responsible for making critical decisions in society. I would prefer them not having any positions of power as their lack of judgement is ear deafening.
It is the blinky buttons crowd, look a squirrel squad and the I identify as a rabbit gang.

A bit confused, reversed of the drive this morning straight into a 20 mph limit, turned into a 30mph limit when I turned left back into a 20mph speed bump area. I was looking at a new car, and the salesman quoted me 0 to 60 figures. Even my wife said, we never go above 50mph Bob.

Dont like the new way of filming this video s. I get what you guys are trying to do but is disruptive.
It goes out and in of focus to much and is shaking. Its making it look unprofessional. Maybe approach it from another way?
But besides that a great review Matt!

Matt it is a common feature on most cars that if you turn off the ignition and flick the wiper switch the wipers will go into the service position. This enables you to pull the wipers back from the screen in wintery environments as well as enabling easier cleaning.

The pure gasoline version of the Touareg 3. 0t V6 features auxiliary radiators on both sides of the front grille, providing a larger cooling area. However, on this hybrid model, it seems that they have been downgraded, despite the engine outputting the same power.

Probably the least attractive Touareg so far. Not sure what s going on at VW, their design and engineering expertise seem to have disappeared. I suppose it s severe cost cutting. This model looks nasty, the wheels and grille look like cheap plastic.

We no longer have the Touareg in Canada but if I understand this review: Touareg, The Q8, Cayenne and Bentayga are based on the same platform?
And I would like to know if UK have the VW Atlas Sport and is it better?

reply

They left the touch controls on the steering wheel
Monumental L. Those were shit on the Golf, are shit on the old Touareg and will be shit on the new one.
Also means they don't listen to their customers

reply

That Touareg is so boring to look at, nothing is going on, very dull. Also 70k for questionable quality overall where you can see the poorly sealed headlights, the exposed wirings and the cheap plastics.

I'm so over the light bars, I think they are cool on older cars. And even on newer cars when this trend started a couple of years back. But now manufacturers have exhausted it and all rear ends look the same.

Comparing a Defender in any way with a Toerag says everything anyone needs to know about the new Defender. it's very sad. Actually reliability would be interesting that would be a decent contest.

Never really cared for the Touareg and Always aspired to drive a BMW X5 someday. However, I currently drive a 2. 0 TDi Tiguan and I'm convinced my next car will be a 3. 0 DTI V6 Touareg. Love it!

Every car I ve owned the last 10 years has a wiper service position!
And on VWs you can also activate it by holding the wiper stall down for a few seconds after turning the ignition off.

I see that you're having a lot of fun with the new camera DJI Osmo Pocket 3, but the image is quite shaky or I would say it's too dynamic. Honestly, I liked the older videos more.

Title asks A budget Bentley? Next thing I see is Matt fiddling with manual steering wheel adjustment and buttons/screens that look like they came straight out of a Golf or T-Roc
