FOLLOW US -carwowcars - We-ve gone petrol vs electric for our latest drag race! On the face of it, you may think this is a pointless test- But once you realise both cars have 400hp, then things become a bit more interesting! We-ll be putting these two contenders to the test with a drag race, rolling race and brake test, but which do you think will end up victorious?

The I-pace is the most important electric car right now. Jaguar have the expertise to compete against Tesla with a more reliable product and a better sorted manufacturing process. Carwow and it's VAG handler are seriously crapping it thus comparing against the RS3. These 2 cars aren't even in the same class let alone weight. It's just a thinly veiled attempt to discredit Jaguar as much as possible because VW don't have an answer for this landmark electric vehicle.

As an Ipace owner, performance is reduced when battery only has 25% charge left as you can see in the videos, you can see other drag races with battery over 70% Ipace cracking 1/4 in 12. 6sec vs 13. 1sec here. I have timed mine and performance reduces when less than 35%. Yes Audi would still have won but would have been much closer than people think.

I just noticed one thing after all these years, the I Pace battery was less than a quarter on the rolling race test, I should imagine it won't have been much higher during the drag race. Ideally it should have been a full or close enough to full to make a fair comparison.
reply

This comparison is not fair at all! The Jaguar Ipace weighs 600 kg more than the Audi RS3 depite having the same power output. The Jaguar in this case made better effort with its extra weight. Do better comparson taking account also the weight, Matthew!

What the point of this comparison? I don't understand the point of going through the effort of testing two cars when their testing data isn't even that close. It's like you thought by simply filming them the outcomes would be closer.

They really should make a two door version of the RS3. The M2 practically have no competitor in the segment. Judging from its current design, I reckon they would look gorgeous as a coupe, just like the M2.
reply

You said -very close- mmmhh yeah sure- 2200kg I-Pace against 1590kg RS3 with same power: what can you expect? And at the end you tried to cheat for the I-Pace with racing the Audi in -D mode- not S. Weak.
reply

Completely pointless, now see how the RS3 does fording a stream next to the I-Pace, or even take on some speed-bumps. Leaving the power source out of it you are still not comparing apples with apples

Exhaust pipes make Neanderthalers feel masculine. Vrooooom vroooom I am a such tough guy. How about a race against a Tesla Model 3 Performance? Bye bye Audi! Petrol cars. 100 year old -technology-.
