I had a similar issue with my 2012 Nissan Frontier with the 4. 0 liter engine. They replaced many parts at the used auto service department and still couldn't fix the issue.
Issue: loss of power out of the blue and when engine would warm up. No engine check light. Engine thermostat was reading high but not in the red.
To make a long story short, the Nissan garage had it for about 15 minutes and found it was a bad thermostat. Because it was overheating, but not in the red (danger zone) the system would cut power to the engine so it wouldn't destroy itself.
Great video. I would just tell people to make sure and take your vehicles to a reputable mechanic. I was without my almost new truck for about a month and a half because the service department at the dealership couldn't diagnose a simple problem.

So have you seen Nissan's commercials now I am a white male let there be no mistake about that but apparently to buy Nissan you need to be a white woman married to a black man if you noticed your last commercialdon't they understand that it's cool for a black man to marry a white woman that's okay but that's not all of society that's what they made it look like three couples they didn't get real with their advertisementanyway it's a shity automobile they got plastic gears in a manner always throwing the timing chain with the rubber belts

I've worked on 2 nissans. One was a 2005 pathfinder w/ 4. 0L v6. The other was a 2006 frontier w/ 4. 0L v6. Both had 4 cats each. Had same problems, no power when pedal to the floor. I fixed the problem by hollowing out all the cats. Problem solved! Runs like a rocket when test drove them. For some reason Nissan cats are poorly designed and I also noticed that all the exhaust pipes converge into one before the muffler and the pipes were nearly flat in that area, which probably added to the problem.

This engine, if I remember correctly, has a propensity to suck the inside of the catalytic converter BACK into the engine. This customer may be lucky if this just had the engine power suddenly go away. Otherwise, he could be looking at a new engine in the very near future.
Depending on age of the truck and mileage (UNDER 100K) this is warranted by Nissan, so free parts but labor is extra.

My first test on a car with this similar issue is is take it down the road. Give it gas tell it starts choking out and pop in in neutral will my foot still on the gas. If the rpms go up its most likely a fuel delivery issue. If not looking more like catalytic converter. Great work! Love the videos

I had a 98 dakota do this. Except it would run ok, low power but it would accelerate. Then as you drove it it the temp would climb then it would start overheating.
Cat was plugged. Thought it was fuel related issue as well. The temp rise was a good indicator.

That's just another of the many reasons I'll never set foot in New York. I've seen that upstate is nothing like the south around the city. having said that, the laws apply upstate too. That's a shame as well, upstate is a lot like Central PA, where I hail from.

My 05 sentra SE-R did similar to that. Except I was doing about 75 on interstate. Started running bad all at once. Made it to the next exit and got it towed home. Started looking at it next day and the front converter broke up and clogged second converter.

I know this is older video but every car I worked on the has a vertical cat is the one that clogs up the rest of the exhaust I have changed 4 one was a kia sodona van and the rear vertical went and blew apart and took out the horizontal converter

just goes to show the electronics these days can be useful but sometimes can be a darn nightmare at times lol got to spend big on gizmos and gadgets to get some vehicles fixed (gotta love euro vehicles with their constant canbus issues)
