When I was in the RV business, the dealership constantly sent us to service training from the manufacturers.
One of the biggest repair issues is RV appliances. There is a wealth of information in the appliance manufacturing service books including wiring diagrams, troubleshooting diagnostics for circuit boards, and troubleshooting logic flow charts that take you through the whole startup and run cycle of how the appliances work.
I made sure that they went home with me when I started off on my own!

Steering wheel switches can also be very susceptible to failure. As a DIYer I was able to fix the trouble codes I had for the speed control circuit on my 12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible by replacing the original switch. Since the car is my own and my favorite I also replaced the EVIC switch, both with new parts.
I was able to carefully remove the air bag after allowing discharge time and replace both switches and reinstall the air bag. Now my convertible is ready for another car show.

The fact that the left door controls all the doors it's a good bet that if the right door doesn't work the same as the left doesn't work it could be the left door control that's doin' it. The recycle' yards around here are nothing compared to Wilberts. The only place I saw a lot like that was in California in the early 70's. Everything was numbered and in order. You could walk straight to the car you were a needing. Once again the Chia disease claims another one. Thanks Mr. O!

This is great! 2 videos in a row in which we got to go to Wilbert's! The only thing that would have made this better is if Eric had said, Tundra Time when he got in his truck. I had an idea when you said the driver's switch was bad we were going to Wilbert's. I am surprised the transmission is still moving this car around. This used car lot is wanting to try you out Eric Gee, they could just watch some of your videos and know what kind of work you do; kinda like we do. GREAT VIDEO!

Just about every one in those cars we had like this either had electrical failure or coffee failure in the master switch. After they age, there's more possibilities.
Horse issue
Mr Ed would play dead if he didn't want to go.
Then when he thought Wilbur was going to get drastic, and left the barn door open
Voom. There goes Ed.
Catch him if you can, he won't get in the trailer.

The dad noticed a couple of law school diplomas on the wall. is that you he asked the owner who nodded. Why the hell are you getting your hands dirty doing this he asked. The guy reached into a coverall pocket and wrestled a fist sized wad of $100 bills out of it. That's why.

Given how expensive parts can be, and how difficult some can be to get, Wilberts is certainly a real benefit for your business and for your clients.
Oh, and the talking is good. Learning theory of operation and logic is a good thing for everyone, it applies to all sorts of things in life. Even if you are never fixing a car, knowing how to figure it out isn't a bad thing at all. Keep up the good work!

I remember way back when doing some door work I pulled the driver door main switch out and discovered the passenger front door window no longer worked, neither did either rear door switch. Seems the main panel is the master for all windows. Pretty sure this is the way most cars work. I find those switches on the armrest are easily contaminated, especially when the window is open at times of rain.

Could Eric slapped a new switch on and hoped it was correct Sure, did he actually DIAGNOSIS and test based off wiring diagram and actually prove his diagnosis you bet! True auto mechanics are a dieing breed. He doesn't need the try to screw people over because a true mechanic doesn't need to toot their horn! Do good true honest work and it will speak for itself

Thanks Eric for your diagnostic information. It’s very interesting and informative for me. Your technique has helped me fix’s problems that I normally wouldn’t have touched. Now I research the problem, find codes (if any are available, then look for wiring diagrams and start troubleshooting. Thank you for all your knowledge that you freely share with us.

I don't understand why anybody buys a Nissan. They're one of the worst rated vehicles. The people driving them, terrify me on the roads. They are worse than Ford drivers. It's like people that don't want to buy Fords by Nissan. And the people who didn't buy a Honda. they buy a Hyundai or Kia. But I hope everyone takes care and stay safe out there!

It dawned on me the other day that I can probably add a pull down or pull up switch on my door latch open switch and stop the head banging noise when I want the door open and the key in / on. My first 3 minutes in the electrical book didn't show me a circuit. The search for the diagram in the book is going to be the hard part I think.

I remember discovering this back in the early 2000s on a Ponty Grand Prix. And yes, it was the driver's door switch that went bad - probably because I was a heavy smoker at the time, so the window was always cracked open a bit and rain would get in occasionally (I really hate when manufacturers got rid of the rain gutter)

I already miss the elegant simplicity of these old systems. Two double-pole, triple-throw switches in series. It won't be long before these kind of designs are gone forever, replaced by communication wires and modules at each actuator. Fewer wires, but when things go wrong you'll likely need a new module, if you can find one.

Come on. Why didn’t you dismantle the Switch for all to see You could’ve cleaned and repair Switch. (No parts needed) This would’ve help those that really did not have the extra funds to replace the Switch, in my opinion that is. Good video, and thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with all.

I work in a shop in WNY in a fancy-pants area so i work on a lot of euro trash. Recently had a window problem on a Mercedes, and between options fitted, date of production, and multiple modules involved, there was pages and pages of euro track diagrams to sift through. I love it when they keep it dead simple.

I was sure the problem was going to be comm link failures between the ECM, TCM, left tail light, horn HVAC and radio.
That said, even with the technology of that year why tf were they running all those redundant powers and grounds through the driver's door instead of one power pair and one can pair

Do you go to Wilbert's for free Seems it would be cheaper to buy a new part than drive to the pick-n-pull, find a car with your part, pull it, drive back then install it. Wouldn't it would make better financial sense to order a new switch and work on something else until it arrives. What am i missing

I work with a guy who's been doing auto electrics for 30-odd years - I work from diagrams/logic but he just knows how these things work from experience
He will start at one end of the problem, I'll start at the other and we'll meet in the mid. err - nearer his end usually: )
