The new Range Rover Sport is good, but good enough to beat the more road-focused Porsche Cayenne Turbo? Steve Sutcliffe finds out Steve: I was previously very opinionated like most on here it seems (in favour of RR. I bought the RR, but to be honest really regret it now, like most people i barely go anything near off road with it, and just look like a pretentious old man in it in my opinion. I've since driven the cayenne and macan, and just like my old 911 they are sensational and in a different league. I'm really surprised by the various reviews which make the RR a competitor of the cayenne, in my humble opinion having driven all since, the RR is really just a well dressed Indian showboat for old men (yes, like me) whilst the Cayenne is a real dynamik (DE) drivers car that does everything exceptionally well and reliably every time. I'm sure there are people that will be happy short-term with the RR as long as they have never driven the Porsche (as I was for 4 months, but my advice is don't make my mistake - my car is now not even 2 years old and it has been back to repair 7+ times now (not even 9k miles from new. so much for the improvement in reliability. Never again & I regret not having done (or being very time pressured at the time) better research and test drives - my mistake! If you truly need to do extreme off-road often then I would really commend off road tyres on the cayenne rather than (my case) ending up in a really dangerous situation where the electronic parking brake fails in middle of heavy traffic. The interior space is slightly larger in the RR if you need to use it as a van/workhorse though which is one good aspect of the RR if its important to you, and i guess it is a softer ride but a bit more noisy due to the upright windscreen.

The Cayenne wins on the track, thats a normal thing, its a Porsche, but that offroad course was not much. All the SUVs could have pull that, even some crossovers. So in my opinion if you could have tested them in real offroad, RR would win. And on the road, it all depends on what you like and dont like, so its kinda subjective. So i think that should not be considered a test.

Hmmm.
Cayenne won on track.
Was also equally capable on off road course. (Draw)
And after some weird blurry explanation (that sport is not what it should be) got in -honourable- draw on road test.
So: won, draw, -honourable- draw.
Total score. draw
Seriously?

The guy is an idiot, i've test driven a Porsche and I own a range Rover svr there is a huge difference. Porsche cannot match the range Rover. Fool is biased in his review. He loves the Porsche and is all praises throughout the video.

So. Most of the people ot there are saying porche looks better. Ive been in a range rover a lot of times. One word. Luxury! And for this reason RR can beat all and i repeat all the SUV out there. Yes im fannoy of land rover
reply

In my opinion, the Cayenne looks better inside and out. It performs better, it was even keeping up with the Range Rover in the mud. And Porsche is a more reliable company than Range Rover as well. Winner = Cayenne.

I fail to see how the Rangie Sport is more luxurious than the Porsche? typical British tester - Porsche drills it dynamically on track (and therefore road too) and matches it off road, and its a -dead heat-?
reply

Its clearly not a draw! Porsche definetly wins this one. But im not surprised that he calls it a draw, i've seen many videos of that racist taking the british side all the time!
reply

Pointless video did anyone really expect for the ranger rover to compete with the Porsche on the track and 9/10 if somebody has a Porsche there not going to be off-roading it
reply

This test is not a fair one. Put up the Range Rover Sport RVR which is tuned for performance like the Cayenne Turbo and then it would be a fair comparison.
