I am truly still surprised that such a high end vehicles doesnt off Apple play and Android play, and that they arent willing to offer an updated software when these items become available. Like smartphones, that is exactly what I want to see, the ability to update the software, hopefully via wi-fi, or by going into your dealer. The reason for this ability would be two fold for me. 1) To provide security updates, this is a true oversight on all cars today. Security issues become a real problem and all cars need the ability to update the onboard computers. 2) Adding new features as they become available. This I also feel is truly necessary because, like smartphones being able to interface with new types of features during the automobiles lifetime is something that just has to happen and will be expected in the future. I would not purchase this car today because of the lack of smartphone interface software. Also, since more and more safety software will be controlling your car, having the ability to update this type of software is vital for the future design functionality and safety. Even engine faults warning should be much more comprehensive. An engine light is way too dumb. With all these displays, error codes should be display and their severity. Also adding AI is going to become more common and this type of interface should be able to tell the driver of potential issues or warnings via voice. The future of cars and our interfacing with thier computers is the future I feel. Cars will have more and more of a verbal personality. Where you can customize your cars name, voice what type of data it tells you about, like when you turn it on. Surely once activated the car can warning you about a low gasoline level, any fluids or maintenance issues that are critical, appointments that day or coming up, etc. I can even see one being able to turn wipers or lights on by voice commands, adjust setting to a know setting, radio, music. Locking the doors, and also indications of unsafe driving behavior, to the point of even calling for help. Autonomous driving, parking etc. can become features one can tell the car and it can perform. One could tell your car to drive you to work, while you either nap or read something. Time in the car can become much more productive time. You can tell the AI to hold all phone calls or take messages, etc.

The S Class costs more simply because it does everything better. The execution of all its abilities are top notch. The Lexus is cheaper and it shows in things like the execution of the technology and safety and things like ride, refinement, build quality and choice of engines. The S Class doesnt hold the crown in this segment for nothing. And on the reliability thing, that is nonsense too. The only time people complain about the reliability of German cars is when I see an American review. I dont know but perhaps people on that side cant deal with properly servicing a highly engineered vehicle like a German car? Because everywhere else in the world such as countries in Europe and Africa, German vehicles are used for emergency vehicles, police vehicles and taxis because they are reliable. And Lexus doesnt even sell any cars because no one wants them. They are simply just less than. Always. And this new LS shows. Lexus was designed for the American market mainly. Which is why I guess many people there will buy this brand. But everywhere else, it is just not good enough. Lexus can compete with Genesis, Kia, Infiniti, Lincoln whatever. But not the Germans.

Very nice of Lexus to continue to break the mold of their very staid reputation. That said, they missed several benchmarks that are key for this luxury class. The infortainment is severely dated, with graphics that are reminiscent of at least a decade ago. No Apple Carplay/Android Auto is not necessarily a fault of Lexus, as it is parent company Toyota in their dispute with Apple and Google, but this is a high-luxury field, and it is expected. The rear seats, perhaps the greatest of misnomers of the LS, given its S-Class-like length, is inexcusable. A Toyota Avalon looks to have better rear-seat space. I do like that Toyota is giving V8-like power for the base model(although the silken 5. 0 V8 and its soundtrack would definitely be more appropriate for the F-Sport, ESPECIALLY given its price premium. It wont make an M750i or Audi 4. 0T sweat much, but it is closer to the S550 in performance. After being on sale since 2007, the last-gen LS gave Lexus ample time to get it right. I do love the exterior design, perhaps better than the safe Germans and Korean models, but their risks should have included sweating details more than they did.

The interior is okay but you can get similar for a lot less. As far as the exterior it is awful IMO. Like Ive said before why does Lexus get away with the terrible grill but Acura was vilified for years for its large grill design for its previous models. In retrospect the old Acura grill was better than this monstrosity. Both the Mercedes and BMW exteriors are far superior to the Lexus. Interior wise using the ridiculously large and multiple screens in the Mercedes and BMW is tremendous overkill. Actually the Genesis is the best blend of all three of the other cars as far as price and styling but lacks the brand cache as was stated in the video. Im really interested in the upcoming Genesis SUV which I think could be a game changer for Genesis and really boost the brand.

Seeing these cars in person and actually sitting in them or driving them. Most will change there opinion. The interior quality is top notch. Option for this car will let you get what you want. He didnt even talk about the worlds biggest heads up display on a production vehicle. The looks is a hate or love it thing. Lexus and Toyota knows that and they dont care. They have there look and there sticking to it. If your an Audio person. May I say. A 23 speaker 3D surround sound 2400Watt Mark Levinson. Possible the best sounding vehicle on the market right now. The car gives you everything and then some. So why hate it.

I just went to the lexus website to build a ls, it seems I need to get the luxury package to get 4 zone climate and ventilated rear seats, and that package costs 12k That will actually put Lexus just a few k less than bmw 7 or mb s similarly equipped with climate and rear seats options. I think the base price is a little bit deceptive, the ls is not that less expensive than bmw 7, so I think the main advantage of ls is not the price, but the reliability. Overall its indeed a great car and thanks to Alex for another great review.

Ive driven an 01 LS430 for the last 15 years(greatest sedan ever made. I am reluctant to get this car as it doesnt appeal to me as amid 40saged luxury driver. Its too sporty, they went too far theleft/right. I believe in the Lexus reliability, but 100k for what appears along the same lines asan infinity in terms of looks. I am torn between the S560, G90 and LS500. going to drive them all and hope that the LS speaks to me. lol Oh and where is the v8?

Personally, I think the large premium sedans are going in the wrong direction with the mini limo look of all their full size sedans Only works if your a young rich Chinese buyer I suppose. Otherwise its a waste and insult to the drivers of these cars Its a shame that Lexus does not offer all wheel drive in the LC 500.

long term car ownership, lexus is definitely the way to go. my bmw has been at the dealer for 3 days now, gonna pick it up tomorrow, found out bmw has lots of parts with extended warranties because they are all going to fail in great numbers and thats called a class action. might try leasing next time and swap cars every 3 years because thats less stressful or maybe buy a lexus or genesis?

I own a 2007 LS460 and by far its the best all around car I have ever owned. Ride, Quality, Looks, Power, Fuel Economy, Comfort and Reliability are done so well in the LS. The thing that Im most impress by with the LS is the low cost of ownership. I will purchase the LS500 once my LS turns 15. Great Comments and Great Review.

I own a 2007 LS460 and by far its the best all around car I have ever owned. Ride, Quality, Looks, Power, Fuel Economy, Comfort and Reliability are done so well in the LS. The thing that Im most impress by with the LS is the low cost of ownership. I will purchase the LS500 once my LS turns 15. Great Comments and Great Review.
