Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the loser, and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world. Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment. When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc, Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U. S. A, along with a 3x5 card reading, Please use this M&M for breeding purposes. This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this grant money. I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion. There can be only one.

Thanks for the great video As a Japanese viewer, lemme inform you a little. With the seeweed, we never eat themselves only, we eat them with rice and some fish like sushi. And many of snacks introduced in this video are appetizers or finger food. So it's natural that they taste strong in some unique way. Even Japanese kids always hate them when they eat for the first time. But interestingly, almost every one gets used to, understands, and enjoys eating them as they grow up. BTW, I also hate the oyster thing And really looking forward to the TV show

In Asia the plain seaweed you guys eat is used in sushi rolls because it is thick and plain in flavour. You should ask around and people around Japan will tell you which plain seaweed you can buy as snacks. The common ones are really thin and season with salt. By the way the one pack you said oyster is does not really look like oyster but mussel. The local use them in local dishes. I really don't like the taste especially when it is near the middle because of it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. But that depends on how it is cooked.

The first snack was just deep-fried nori seawead. The 'cheese' thing was chikuwa a type of processed fish cake. The 'flavourless' type of seaweed you got is actually for meant to go around rice. If you see nori in square packets those are usually flavoured ones meant for snacking. All these snacks are supposed to be eaten alongside beer, you're right that some of them are better as fresh dishes at an izakaya. I do like dry fish and almonds though, very salty and sweet.

Hope you dont think Japanese food is so great and snack is the worst in the world lol. Im Japanese and proud of you guys to tried really hard for those challenging funky stuffs. Honestly those are the snacks)which I wouldnt pick from family mart. lol Wish there is more English on package, then you guys could make an idea what that is. Japanese sweets are the BEST though To me, even the basic milk chocolates have different flavor compare to US chocolates.

I'm glad to know you guys come to Japan finally I am a big fan of vagabrothers. I live in Osaka, 24 years guy. I'm really looking forward to your coming to my home town. Actually, food in Okinawa is slightly different from other regions' one. If you guys have an oppotunity to come Osaka, you two will be able to experience different types of amazing foods, for sure Anyway, I really enjoyed this video as well as always.

love this video i can only hope i get to try something like this one day, i love japanese culture and would love to travel there one day. i tried swedish candy a while back and have made a few other travel videos, hugely inspired by the vagabrothers, and thank you to the vagabrothers for their ever helpful advice. i would be so grateful if you checked out my videos and subbed: )

Hahaha. That was kinda funny to queasy to watch Marko, you picked the yuckiest snacks The grossest one that Alex said was trying to be sushi - I think it was trying to be mochi. Either way. Fail And I'm totally with you guys. Nori is the best I often snack on that here in Canada. :) I hope my Japanese friend, Mizuki watches this and comments

A little off topic but my partner and I have been sifting through destinations for our honeymoon and cant settle on one. This was fun Also apart from obvious videos on the places u visit forthe TV show pls make a video if u can at the end of ur shooting days about the whole experience n how u feel it's different than shooting for YouTube vlogs etc. Would love to watch that video: )
