Ely, NV to Las Vegas, NV (via UT) - A Complete Road Trip

This is day 3 of my southwest road trip: Ely to Las Vegas via Utah, done on October 4, 2019. Like with the previous two days of the trip, the weather was great. It started off at 30F (-1C) in Ely, but warmed up throughout the day. The warmest temp of the day was actually in the desert of Nevada just before arriving in Las Vegas at the end: 86F (30C) This starts out in Ely on US-50 (the Loneliest Road in America) into Utah and over to Escalante National Monument, then to Bryce Canyon N. P. and through Zion N. P. before heading back to Las Vegas on I-15. There is some footage of Escalante, Bryce Canyon, and Zion from stops. The Bryce Canyon footage is from my August 2017 trip (that's part of my Nebraska to California video) as I didn't actually stop at Bryce Canyon in this trip

OK, I'm not American but I have some questions for US residents, mostly for Arizona/Nevada/Utah people:
1)What are the reasons that US-50 ("The loneliest road in America") is so "loneliest" (so less "circulated") I'm assuming that there are more efficient routes, but I still want to hear other opinions.
2) I can't see any cell tower. How's the mobile reception in places like this What if you have a mechanical problem, or other issue or emergency in such area
Thanks for any answers.

Thank for the upload, unclecoolie for the upload. This looks like it might have been your most scenic recorded road trip yet. The Southwestern scenery is hard to beat. This video brought back some great memories for me of cycling across Nevada along the Loneliest Road. It was interesting to watch the elevation data throughout this video as you crossed all of those mountain ranges and basins. Looking forward to your next upload.

Your camera and GPS is cool. I like the maps, coordinates, and other cool stuff on the camera. I like when the clock on your camera change automatically throughout the time zones, including Arizona's Time Zone. Arizona's the same time as Pacific Time in the summer because most of Arizona doesn't observe DST, except The Navajo Nation observes DST.

Thank you for creating this road trip. Absolutely superb. While we all sit at home during virus lock downs it is great to virtually travel to such awe inspiring places. Being an Australian with a love of our beautiful outback, this is just as good. And i loved the little foot travel stops and still pictures.

As you came out of the tunnel at 2: 05 I recognized that road from the opening of the movie THE CAR with James Brolin about a cursed Lincoln custom with no driver running people over. Crazy thing is I haven't seen it in decades. Bit when you stopped and got out then looked up I was like no way!

In June of 2019, I went on a guided tour of the American canyonlands - Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. They were all incredibly beautiful, and the exprience was unforgettable. Thank you for this video, since it lets me relive some of that entire journey in ways just photos cannot. Safe travels!

Another prefect road trip series from you, thanks for sharing I enjoyed the whole thing.
Question When you’re choosing a rental car to do the trip, Do you preference a car that has long fuel range vs a super comfortable one without good range Like a Prius vs a big SUV for example.

Thanks for the stop at 1: 23: 20 I can paint that: D Couple of things. 1. When you stop at a lookout. Can you slow pan, and stop every so often in the pan for a still shot 2. At Pit stops, could you clean the windscreen please lol Cheeky I know but hey I sit here for hours lol.

Loving these videos! How do you get the State & County in the overlay Is VIRB edit able to retrieve those automatically, or do you have to add it manually
Any trouble with camera overheating It's a real problem with the GoPro if it's mounted to the windshield.

Ah. The short way. . And anyone that hasn’t drove Highway 12 between Torrey Ut and Panguitch Ut; you NEED to add it to your bucket list. It’s one of the best.
How did you like driving the section at 1: 20: 48 There is no room for error!

Well, I'm done seeing the trip, and it was nice to see the Utah National Parks (I liked Zion National Park better. Greetings friend and what a pity that you cannot make new trips for the coronavirus.

I love the part of going through Arizona on I-15. It is nice seeing the sun's direction behind the mountains showing shadows at Virgin River Gorge. Actually I live in Arizona though.

A great ending to an amazing trip! I was hoping you were headed for Great Basin National Park, but Escalante, Bryce, and Zion was a good idea too. I look forward to your next trip!

I always think of how long it took people to pave the road down and color in the lines. Especially the lines that separate into smaller lines. LOL
