I did the glacier K2 flight last year when I worked just outside Talkeetna. The name comes from the 2 women founders and not the mountain. One chew out- it's Denali and no longer McKinley- it honors the first people of Alaska. Two bits of trivia: the people of Alaska are the #1 ice cream consumers in the States, and there are more coffee shacks per capita than anywhere else in the U. S. Also, Alaska Railroad and it's subsidiaries have trains that come to and from the cruise port in Whittier to help with catching flights. They also go to Talkeetna, Denali, Seward, and Fairbanks. Noel, you are officially a member of the 30% Club, as that is the percentage of visitors who actually get to see Denali. She makes her own weather system and is often shrouded in clouds. Additionally, seeing the Northern Lights in June, July, and August is very rare. If your hotel pages your room when they're visible, just know the call will often happen between midnight and 4am when there can be some dark skies, but know they're not guaranteed. I was there for 5 months and only saw them four times and twice I was alerted at 2am. The best place to see the bears catching Salmon is Katmai, only way in is by plane.

It was funny, that you got your Cheezit's at the same time I started eating mine! You and Rachel (and the treatments are making her smile more every time we see her) should book passage on the Alaska Railroad! It goes where the airplanes don't. Lots of whistle stops. In flight medical issues Wife and I were on a flight where there was a medical emergency and the flight crew asked if there was a MD on board. No one chimed in so I told the flight attendant I was a medic so they put me to work. Patient ended up needing to get to a hospital and I asked the f/a if I could talk to the captain and she handed me the phone and said just push 1. I did and when I told the pilot she really needed to get to a hospital, he said no problem, we will land in Nashville (closets city) and asked if I would mind giving their dispatcher a report. After it was all over with, pilot got my name & address and when we got home, there was a USPS mail (this was in '95 and I didn't have email then) and in it was 2 vouchers for round trip air fare! An even added bonus was on the flight we booked with the vouchers, there was ANOTHER emergency patient and we ended up with another set of vouchers.

Thanks for coming to my state and making awesome videos! Excited to hear you're coming back!
Location suggestion is Adak, Alaska. The 11th Air Force 5th generation fighters will participate at the INDOPACOM Northern Edge Exercise in Adak, Alaska August 14-28. The Adak military base was abandoned 28 years ago and only 30 people live there now. The aviation history on Adak stems from WW2/Cold War era. Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan is trying to reopen the base due to its strategic location on the Aleutian Islands.
I was planning to fly down to shoot video and Livestream the August military activities on Adak, but I have dental surgery conflicting with the August dates.
If you decide to go, give a call to the Aleutian Islands Adak Experience and chat with Mike and Steve, 2 of the 30 people that live there They'll be able to give you great information on everything! I stayed in one of their rentals and they made the entire stay so fantastic with stories, info, advice, history and help of any kind needed while on the island. If you do decide to go top priority is to pack enough food for your stay

Noel we love your videos butwe live in Australia and know about Mooses tooth the best pizza place in the USA, you at lesst go to to F street station in the too 3 aviation bars in the world. You dont say hello to the Everts team some of the friendliest aviation people with some of the coolest aircraft in the world.
I mean really
We have travelled to AK 6 times from Australia a lot further than Texas the small state it is and even we know how legendary Alaska is and how friendly aviation lovers are.
Really again your rush to visit has failed to show almost ALL of the amazing aviation experience Alaska has to offer.
We feel sorry for you as you missed 90% of what Alaska has to offer.
Cool video but it could of been a thousand times better if you took the time to actually stop and just look around.
Keep the videos coming but stop rushing and show the amazing things places like Alaska have to odder.
If we have the time to visit it 6 times from the other side of the world i reckon you have the time to show it off well.

You said to give ideas for the next time you are up in Alaska, so here are a couple ideas.
Go to Homer and fly from Beluga Lake to Katmai National Park - where all of the Grizzly bear viewing happens.
You can hop a flight to Glennallen (PAGK) or drive (it's a beautiful drive as well, where from there you can fly to McCarthy, where the world famous Kennikott Copper Mine is. There are mail flights to there from Glennallen several times a week.
You can fly from Homer to Nanwalek with Homer Air on a commercial flight. Nanwalek has a pretty wild approach and landing on a beach for the most part.
You should do the Alaska Airlines Milk Run flight from Seattle to Anchorage.

Loved this BTS video for a couple of reasons, 1) Good to see the BTS stuff and how you manage late changes etc. 2) Because Alaska is so photogenic.
About your Anchorage stay. That was just down the road from where I stayed for 5 nights this tie last year, and I too had Muhbarak as my Uber driver after I dropped my rental car offf. Such a small place Anchorage but large compared to the rest of the population centres in the state.
I look forwad to more BTS and the return to Alaska.

Noel I am so thrilled to see that you and Rach did get to Talkeetna which I mentioned after your last video was an amazing experience, and it was also great to see that you had the opportunity to to fly with K2 aviation out of Talkeetna. Brings back so great memories of long ago for me. I so enjoyed your Alaska adventures! Too bad you couldn't get to Nome. I also had the chance to visit Nome long ago and amazing place with tons of gold rush history! Stay well and thanks for this!

Noel, what has come out since Fridays says the Air India crash was intentional by one of the pilots who shut off the fuel to both engines once the plane was airborne & then switched back to on run position before the crash. The Black Box Voice recorder has one pilot asking the other pilot why did you do that referring to when one of the pilots switched the fuel shut off switches to off. So it was NO mechanical problem with the plane, Air India maintenance or Boeing.

I have been to Anchorage once on a mission trip many years ago. Worked block parties, a soup kitchen, and performed outreach. One day, the team and I hiked up this mountain whose name escapes me. We made it to the summit of this mountain, and then some of us (not me) headed to Wal-Mart to buy these shirts that they had hiked it. Went to a restaurant the night before I left and sampled some chocolate-covered bacon.

Love Sea planes. As a kid, I loved to watch Tale Spin, when Baloo from the Jungle Book is pilot. Do anyone remember this one I would love to do this Alaska adventure that you do Noel. It looks very special. We have similar in Northern Sweden but not so remote areas as in Alask, when you really need the planes. Amazing videos. Would love a part of Alaska in my mailbox. I keep my fingers crossed from your other video

It's fun to see what goes on behind the scenes on one of your long trips, so yes keep doing these videos. For suggestions, I'd love it if you went back to Barrow and actually went to the northernmost point in the US. That's on my bucket list, and I've love to see someone else do it. The southernmost point isn't too far from where I live, so I'd like to see both someday.

Look at the radial engine on that old DHC Beaver float plane! It’s amazing that those ancient engines are still in use today in Alaska. The ropes hanging off it are interesting, too. Perhaps their intent is to help the pilot judge the distance from the water when landing
Just looked the plane up online. It’s a 1952 model - older than me by more than a decade.

Hey Noel,
Been watching your videos for a while now. I just had a question. Why don’t you feel unsafe flying with airlines that a have a low safety rating I get terrified flying with AirAsia Indonesia from Perth to Bali because of the incident they had in 2014. Now, they are rated 7/7 and have the good certifications.
Bye

19: 00. I agree about Hamptons. I like them, nice clean, usually modern. Big bathroom (esp compared with Courtyard) and accessible power outlets bedside. But after this year I will more than likely turn my loyalty to Marriott as Hilton gives a big F U to elite members trying to get late checkout. Marriott has guaranteed 4pm.

What an awesome bts video! Thank you for that and especially thank you, that it was about Alaska. Next time, you should also try the Ravn Alaska airline and fly from ANC to Kodiak Island. You will surely see some bears and there is even a spaceport on the island. You will love it. :) Safe travels!

Great series. I just did a version of one of your trips; taking a train from Halifax to San Diego. it was great, but after two weeks my thought was I want to go home. I was moving almost every day, sleeping in different beds, and eating at the same type of restaurant every single day.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was nice to see just how much planning and work goes into each of your trips Noel. I've been watching your videos for 6 years now and I never get tired of seeing the world through your travels. Keep doing what you are doing

Really enjoyed the whole Alaska series. Great visuals. I gotta say though, I am shocked at the number of Black people in Alaska. We are only like 3% of the Alaskan population and we were all over this series. Even outside of Anchorage which surprised me

Noel
We need to talk about your diet you’re now moved to the United States
I think we need to get you on the healthy eating program of MNGA
OR MAKE NOEL GREAT AGAIN
Some vegetables and a few less carbs and no potatoes are not vegetables

So you like AIRBnB Noel I hope you're aware of the problems of housing affordability, availability and unruly intrusions to the locals around the world it causes
The hotel and traditional accommodation industry isn't too happy with them either I hear.
