Amazing video Jeb!
I definitely have to add this train trip to my bucket list and the continent of Africa as I have never been there and I’m looking forward to visiting someday!
I really like your videos when you go to Africa, as I think it has to be one of the coolest places out there given the animals in the safari and the beautiful scenery!
Cheers my friend!
This has also shown me when I take a train trip, or things other than just flying have to make a video!

I believe that discarded coach is the result of a crash with a freight train. On the morning of 18 April 2025, a Rovos Rail luxury train en route from Pretoria to Victoria Falls collided head-on with a freight train operated by the Beitbridge Bulawayo Railway (BBR) near Gwanda in southern Zimbabwe. The collision resulted in the derailment of several carriages. One Rovos Rail staff member later passed away due to medical complications from the accident.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and the Victoria Falls. I used to travel part of that line to go to school in a place called Balla Balla about halfway between Bulawayo and Gwanda. Seeing that particular station sign brought back memories of when I appeared in school plays in Gwanda. Also been in the Mtopos national park many times and visited the grave of Cecil Rhodes on severaloccasions. Thanks for the memories, and I'll see you next time on the rails

Looked like a heck of an experience! I have two questions; first, you mentioned guards and a rail car for those folks. Considering the unrest in large parts of Africa, I can see how that might be a prudent move, but did you have any or hear of any hairy incidents traveling on this train Second, was there a casual alternative to the formal dinners each night Sandwiches or other lighter fare delivered to your room or the observation car

Hi Jeb and Suzanne, this looked an amazing train holiday, great food and wine, beautiful decor, lovely suite, I was thinking this is going to be expensive, but when you showed the price at the end, I was pleasantly surprised, it's not often to have all inclusive on a train holiday. I love travelling by train and this looked perfect. Great camera work on those views Jeb. Great video, really enjoyed this one. Cheers from the UK.

Jeb, big fan of your content.
However, did you not find it weird that you were in the middle of Africa and yet not one black person was on your train as either a passenger or an employee Apartheid is alive and well. I empathize. I'm an Catholic, Caucasian, American citizen who did 8yrs in the US Army and was born in N. Ireland. This comment wasn't bias, only observatory and disappointing.

We did the full Rovos ride from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam. Spent a lot of time on either end. My wife is originally from Mombasa and we have many friends in Stonetown, Zanzibar so we maximized the fun. I see there are a lot of haters posting down at the end of your comment section. They have no idea who we are, what we’ve been through, how we’ve helped, etc. Sad. Keep on keeping on.

The trip is trully terrific. I hope that we go on this or the one from Singapore in the next year or so. Is it me or are the advertisements becoming a distraction i was interrupted in viewing this video several times with ads about Mint Mobile, therapy counseling services and daytime trading services. Two other video journeys by Jab and his wife were also disrupted frequently.

This is something, which I don’t like with these informational videos which are just advertising: For example, I cannot sleep in ANY sleeping coach by night, due to the noise of the tracks even in Europe high standard trains. I cannot imagine that the poor tracks in Africa will let me sleep anyway. Or is the train resting by night (would be a useful information: )

At 17 mins in we still have seen absolutely nothing about their destination. Doi you even know you are in Africa While these you tube scammers think we are interested n their train - the paid promotion we are here to see Africa which we see absolutely nothing of. This scammong destroys your brand. I will not watch another of your money making videos

18: 20 it's a bit blurry, for the usual reasons, but was that Ian you had as your guide in Matobo National Park
If so then that guy is legendary. He was our guide in Matobo a few years ago and definitely helped us to have a great time seeing the park and the rhinos, and he's the guide all of the overland tours try to have.

Hey Jeb! - I don’t know if you ever read any of these comments, but as a photographer myself, I wanted to telll you that I thought the shot of the steam coming off of your coffee in the early morning light at 13: 46 into this video was absolutely superb! And I’ll bet you didn’t think anyone would appreciate that, did you

I love Africa so much! This trip looks wonderful! I have been to Kenya several times, and Ghana, on mission trips. I am wondering what kind of backpack Suzanne has. It looks very travel worthy! I travel with missions a lot and have trouble finding a backpack I truly love.

Good Friday wasn't that good when a train consist of Rovos Rail collided with another locomotive.
18 people were injured, 14 were admitted to hospital in Gwanda.
The only fatality was to a staff member of Rovos who succumbed to their injuries a few weeks later.

How does Rovos Rail do security to prevent the train being hijacked by armed thugs particularly in South Africa Is there Special Forces on board who can take them out should it happen. Quite the adventure do they have solo travelers did you happen to notice
reply

Rovos Rail is a family operated business under the leadership of Rohan Vos. Rovos rails grace the train rails not only in South Africa but also in Afica. The staff are highly trained to ensure an unforgettable journey. It is a lifetime experience.

Jeb, you always look so put together. I wish your wife put more effort in herself, she has that beautiful dark curly hair and does absolutely nothing with it. Buy her some prettier garments, or hire a stylist.
I’ll continue to follow your page

Love all your videos. The attention to detail and how the story is unfolded. Love this one especially. Wished the food section was extrapolated more. I watched these while I have a meal and pretend that I'm eating the same. Cheers!

I really enjoy your all travels and videos. I have a question though. Was the total for the Safari plus the train $11, 000, or was the Safari $11, 000 in the train 9400 Keep up the good work! And the good travel travels!
