Hiking Wind Wolves Preserve - SoCal Wilderness Hiking near LA - AdventureArchives
video description
When in flight A Ravin has a slightly rounded tail & when they perch they make that clicking sound that you imitated. Crows in flight are smaller & have a tail that is
Straight across. And when
Perched they go CAW CAW!
Ravins eat road kill are larger than Crows and do not eat road kill.
If you ho on youtub you will find alot of information of both! They both can learn to talk very clearly! They will come to your yard if you put
Food & water out for them. People say they bring gifts. Mine have not brought gifts.
Just visits are a gift for me. They will mimic noises, like
When the need food or water they will go up on the roof of my R. V. and imitate some one knock on my door. - - -

I left my mid-west family and friends in 1970 to go to work in California. One of the first things I did was to start backpacking. I finally drifted away from that by 1980, but have rediscovered it, or at least day hiking, just recently. At 70, I plan to try a few of the hikes you have documented in your mini-adventures. Since I am still in great shape, I suspect Mugu Peak will be my next day-adventure, followed by Wind Wolves Preserve when the weather cools down a bit. Thank you for introducing me to these areas. You should check out the San Gorgonio Wilderness this fall or next spring. I haven't been there since 1975. Also consider the San Jacinto Wilderness area as well. Lots of trail/tram options there.

I've been watching your videos and love your adventures! I'm also new to L. A. and can relate on going on these amazing hikes alone. Calaifornia has always been my vacation spots but now that I live here I figure that I can invite people to explore here. I also have travel videos on my page. Thanks for sharing! Maybe we will bump into one another on a hike?

Excellent video Thomas! I appreciate the personal thoughts and narration. I too like to be around other people and the communal aspect of hiking/camping, BUT solo hiking can be a quite different and sometimes rewarding personal journey. Even if you have to put up with weird scary-looking bugs! Thanks for creating this.

The spring is the best season to visit Wind Wolves when there is nothing but beautiful green grass, water, and flowers. However, if you want solitude, the hot summer is the best time to visit, but bring lots of water, don't hike alone, and watch out for rattlesnakes.

You're funny. The Rattlesnakes scene, cracked me up.
I, too, am dying to see a mountain lion!
That was a great video my man! I will be subscribing now.
That place looks so cool and close to the Kern River.
Check out Kernville. My favorite place

it's amazing that in a city, county, as big as Los Angeles, you go out in the mountains and there is nobody. That means that millions of people are just sitting on their butts watching TV. Sad in a way.

Interesting topics and locations. However, regardless of where you are, never go INTO the brush looking for wildlife. Ever heard of -Grizzly Man? - You're lucky it was only a rattler.
