10 Things NOT to do in IRAQ (Kurdistan) - Jacob Laukaitis Adolf: The reason why Kurds don't like to be called Arabs or Turks or Persians is Because Kurds are a different nation, and there are many differences between Kurds and their neighbours, First, They call us the 2nd Israel because we support Israel and we are mostly Muslims, Pretty unusual, It's because at some point Kurds and Jews used to live together, and Kurds are not as religious as Turks, Arabs, and Persians are, and a big difference between them is, Kurds don't like having more than 3 Children, Most of the modern Families in Kurdistan are usually consisted of 3 to 4 members at the very least, But they have a very strong connection between every part of the family, Kurdish parents are less strict compared to the other nations, Like back then Kurdish parents were so strict but it suddenly changed after 2003, and from then, Kurdistan has changed so much, and it still is, and another difference is, Discrimination, That thing doesn't exist any more in Kurdistan, Men and Women are just as equal in here, and if they looked at you while you're there, It's because they're surprised and wondering Why would somebody even choose Kurdistan, Older Kurdish generations are fading away, and The newer generation has changed to the point that they don't even look like they are from middle-east, But much much better than the older generation

Well, Jacob, the issue of the Kurds is very complicated with the Arabs in Iraq. They wanted to separate from Iraq but they could not. They have no country. The Sykes-Picot agreement pushed the Jews and the Kurds away. They tried to take over northern Iraq, but failed again, after a while they got a large share of the Iraqi people's money with the help of your government. Do not forget that the flag of the United States is Kill to stay. Remember the Indians in the West

For anyone that cares to support the Kurdish cause or independence, for the love of GOD, please stop referring to Kurdistan as Iraqi-Kurdistan. I dont care if thats what other countries call it politically or the fact that Kurdistan is occupied by Iraq as well as other countries that btw, oppress Kurds daily. Call Kurdistan just Kurdistan. - Sincerely the Kurdish people

Do NOT throw your shoe or show the sole of your shoe. That is literally the ultimate insult in the Middle East. That should be in the Top 5. Heard about the Kurds through my father. He gave medical aid and food to them as an Army Medic during the First Gulf War. That is how I also heard about the ultimate insult. My father told me and my brother told me.

Thanks for the great information.
And your good feeling about Kurdistan.
Airport taxis cheat all travelers. They agree with the authorities. Nobody holds them accountable. They also stole from me even though I am Kurdish and I speak the language

My old neighbours were Kurdish and the mum was the loveliest lady you could meet despite not speaking a word of English, she really tried to communicate. I think her children were in England too long as they werent as friendly: )

Hes right about the free stuff thing this is what happens as an example: Bob: okay Ive done my haircut time to pay you. Fred: NO do NOT pay me. And they get over huge arguments about that sort o thing

Hi, just wanted to add some info. If ur in any city in Kurdistan and u want to take a taxi dont pay any amount over $5, anything over that is definitely a scam. Even if its from the airport.

In Asian countries if any police officers comes to you that's okay you're guilty its just they want to greet you or maybe checking stuff for your safety

you could also walk to the outside of the terminal and take a taxi/bus or any public transport there. Now I believe there are also direct buses
