Visiting Chicago means having some of Chicago's amazing traditional foods. Here are our favorite traditional Chicago eats that you should have on your next visit to the Second City, whether it is Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza or one of the various treats from Portillo's (Italian beef please) you will go home full

1. Real Chicagoans do not eat at Giordanos pizza. It's nasty tourist food. Venture into one of the neighborhoods and get some real thin crust pizza, Deep dish is just bread and cheese.
2) Portillos is overrated and very expensive, Chicagoans go there as a last resort.
3) Hit up a friendly neighborhood bar, those craft beer places are full of douchebags.
4) If you do get Italian beef (It's juice or gravy NOT AU JUS) Stay away from portillos too expensive, again heat to the Northwest side of the city to get the best beef sandwiches.
5) Don't listen to Youtubers for food recommendations hit up Yelp

Portilos is junk and appeals only to tourists and suburbanites. Having eaten at the best hot dog places in chicago since the 1960s I know a great dog, burger and fries and 100 places better than Portillos. If you want fries that are frozen and hard like plastic go to Portillos. If you want burgers that are overcooked to crunchy then go to Portillos. Who wants a crunchy burger. Want a great hot dog and fies go to Superdawg or Gene and Judes. If you want plastic food go to Portillos

LOL all the pizza places he named are for turrest and new people that just relocated to chicago. Real chicago pizza is Home Run Inn or Connies, Barroco's, Falco's, There's so many others but not going to name them all. The best Italian beef sandwiches are from Lulu's. been around since 1967, right off Taylor and Ogden av, Stay away from the corporate ran chain eateries that was named in the video, if you want real good tasting Chicago pizza. (Im born and raised in Chicago)

Deep dish is good, but Chicago is better known for its tavern style. Hit up Vito & Nick's off pulaski for the best pizza (cash only. Find Johnnie's Beef off 64 for the best beef (cash only. Al's is really good too, just different. Finally, go find you a breaded steak sandwich from Ricobene's.
What I just listed is exactly what should be on this list

The stuffed pizza is tasty, but be aware going in that it's only a pizza in terms of ingredients. What it is, in reality, is a casserole. Also, I suggest you skip the tourist name brands and go to Bacino's.
Also, any dog stand will serve you an Italian beef as good or better than Portillo's. The must-have item if you go there is the chocolate cake.

I am a tour guy of chicago and being a Mexican-American myself I was so happy when I toured a group from Mexico into Chicago to try out our traditional Chicago style deep dish pizza and they said that this pizza was so good that that it didn't needed ketchup because in Mexico pizza is always topped on with ketchup.

Low Country is the best seafood boil ive ever had. Theres one on South View and Lakeview. Its for sure on the pricier side, but their shrimp and crab legs are unbelievable.
Also Golden Nugget diners located across Diversey Ave are really good for breakfast

Giordano's was extremely disappointing. First they tell you its an hour wait. That turned into a 2 1/2 hour wait. They kept stringing us along. That's what they are taught to do. Poor business strategy. Pizza was above average. Lou's is much better.

Here's my list as a chicagoan
1. chicago deep dish the man was right about that one
2. billy goat tavern
3. portillos for their dogs beefs and cake shakes
4. garretts popcorn mix
5. carnitas uruapan

The pizza is not deep crusted. It's deep dish. It's more cheese than crust. Giordano's is really good. Malnati's has a beer flavor to the crust- really good. Gino's East is so good. Bennison's bakery! So good.
