I live in Belgium and sorry but in this video he talks a lot of shit that isnt true. It isnt that slow in Belgium you just need to go to the tourist office and from then off on you can fill your day really good and have just done one then t of al the things you can do in the city. And the waitress are also good its different from the US but not in a bad way. Its true that for you guys the stores may close early but it isnt that much different in France or the Netherlands. And yes we Belgians like to relax with a beer or other drink that you like on a terrace and not being like time is money cause it isnt true. We have a other sort of society than you guys just one example when we need surgery we dont need to worry in which hospital we arrive cause we know that the treatment will be the same and with a social healthcare system health care is available to everyone. We pay for a $1200 surgery via the social healthcare system just $12 from our bank account. So we have just such a different society and thats why it looks like everything maybe a bit slower.

Here in Switzerland we get more and more belgian beer in our stores and i'm very happy about this; ) Some years ago we only could have chosen between leffe blond and leffe rouge in our biggest grocery stores. Now its about 10 different belgian beers. Hope it will be 100 in 2 years. As you might know by now i love belgian beer!
Greetings to you belgians from switzerland!
We don't get much contact between us but we like you here a lot: ) Hope to meet some belgian tourists here soon again.

critism ok but critism out of a american point of view. funny/sad/ridiculous. If you travel you have a travellers mindset and not a stay-at-home-country vibe.
But some good points made about Brussels: Brussels is a ghetto and yes there is more to our boring country.
And yeah like others say: we hate it with a passion and for more than one good reason. good public transport: Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic.

Service may seem aloof, if you are used to the American Hi Im Steve and Im gonna be your best friend for the rest of the evening type of service. Waiters in Belgium dont like to bother customers while they are with friends or family. They are not there to be the show. Because there is no tipping culture in Belgium, they can just get by with a smile and a hello. Might be weird for US citizens, but we like it that way.

If there is seemingly nothing to do during the day, it means that most Belgians are bussy working (yes yes) or going to the store to buy food and stuff because shops close at 6 or 7 pm in order to have a quiet and enjoyable evening. How logic can it be? There s nothing difficult about shops closing at a civilised hour, it only needs some discipline and inhibition of impulsivity to plan your day.

Belgians enjoy life. They do not want a waiter checking on them 10 times to see if they are done, so they can turn the table over. The table is yours for the evening basically, if you are in a rush, tell the waiter otherwise he will let you set the pace. It is considered rude to interrupt a meal with constant badgering, it is a meal between you and your company, not the damn waiter.

Moving from Belgium to US I had the opposite experience regarding the service. It annoyed the hell out of me that waiters come to bother you every 10 minutes. I just want to be left alone and enjoy my meal. You get used to it over time, but man, in the beginning, waiters feel like a human sized wasp swarming around you're table

And namur, and dinant, and bastogne, and grottes de han, and the doudou in mons, and binche at carnaval time, or not, whybis it always those super touristic towns? And brussels, for all its chaotic archi5ecture, has the horta house, museums, lotsa really great old cafes and eateries. place st catherine.
