X System - Where broscience ends and real science produces fast gains - You have likely been told that there is no way to target the inner chest in your chest workouts. You may have even been told that the only parts of your chest you can work are the upper and lower chest. Worse, you may have been told that there is no way to target any area of the chest since it contracts all or none. Well, if you've been told any of these things, I've got good news for you (and your ability to build a bigger chest, they're all myths! In this video I go into depth about how it is possible to influence and develop your inner and middle chest with the right exercises and training techniques. Due to the existence of non spanning chest fibers, the ability to increase the activation of your middle chest muscle as you complete your range of motion is definitely possible. We break down the difference between spanning and non spanning fibers and how they influence your ability to target middle pecs. Ultimately, if you can zero in on a specific muscle group you will be able to improve your ability to build it. In order to build bigger pecs and bring up your inner chest you have to know how to hit it with the right inner chest exercises. At the end I show you three of my favorite middle chest exercises that you can include in your chest workout to dramatically increase the activation of these inner chest fibers. All three middle chest exercises use either a single dumbbell or a band or cable and can easily be done at home or the gym. The key to building a bigger inner chest is to create overload and take your exercise through a full range of motion to ensure maximal involvement of these non spanning muscle fibers. So the fibers of the inner chest aren't connected to the humerus. why isn't it a separate muscle then.
You can't focus the inner chest n hyperthrophy any more than you can train the upper-inner bicep. Why invent arbitrary spots. Lets say you could isolate the inner chest doing cable chest flys, that means I could have a two inch inch inner chest and no muscle in the rest of the pectorals? Can you imagine how that would look? Nobody looks like that, because you can't influence the inner chest alone. This reminds me of people saying leg raises train the lower abs (they train the iliopsoas.
Edit: Although the explanation at 5: 30 makes me question.

This has inspired me to try a cable crossover where one arm goes halfway, and the other goes past full, alternating of course. My 1st buddy who lifted weights had the craziest striations in his chest, because some dudes are lucky. It makes sense that trainers try eclectic angles. Have any of you ever done a flat bench press doing chores? Naw, the chest is designed to do all sorts of odd movements

Thanks Jeff for another great video! Yessir! Please keep these type of vids coming from time to time. They really reinforce your workout videos. Like this one for example really backs up all the chest videos. Particularly the ones about exercising the different parts of the chest, especially the inner part. (Does this mean we get another new t-shirt coming? One saying -it's anatomy b-tch-)

I do that with my arm, yet I see no 'wave of contraction' across my chest like that!
Sigh. haha
Actually, I started those crossover cavaliers (or whatever you call them) a couple of weeks ago and I have noticed a difference. Also the low crossover where you bring your thumbs together. I don't know the name, but it's another of your videos. Good exercises.

I am a person who understood you can target inner chest by experience. For the first straight 8 months all I did was cable crossovers, dumbell flys and alternatives of these. And I had no lower chest development but I was able to hold a pen between my pecs. Believe it or not it was just not very aesthethic looking chest, except if I was wearing V-necks.

Jeff, you need some sort of 2D musculoskeletal model on your website that we can drag a muscle and be linked to all videos on that muscle. There needs to be a more organized procedure to find the information, rather than arms, legs, etc. Something more detailed, to compare with the great informative videos posted here. Thanks.

This is a bunch of bull.
You see more fibers because they are being compressed.
This is very irresponsible of you to use a visual demo and say it's doing one thing when actually it's doing another.
People are looking to you and others online for real helpful advice. Don't feed them bull.

I-ve been doing chest for awhile and I have targeted every muscle but the inner chest is just not popping out and I was wondered how to make it pop out but now I know that you can-t work it out but what your saying is basically a fiber being stretched which activates the inner chest?

So I was able to do this by jumping on a pec fly maching I ste it on 70lbs and worked 1 arm at a time it let you to bring your arm well pat the center of the chest it felt a lot different but better I was doing press work and super ser with single are peck flys.
