You're a gifted teacher, and I love this tutorial!! I do need a little help on how to use Windows 95 OS for my VM. Will Windows 95 be in the same drop down menu as Linex was in your example, or will I have to put a Windows 95 CD in and use the key? I read I'd need to use a load it with a CD (disk), but I'm not sure if I understood that correctly. If I need to use the disk at what point do I interject into the instructions you provided to load Windows 95 disk, and where and how do I pick back up and resume following step by step instructions? I desperately need to install some software for my grandbabies, but I'm not the geek I WISH I WAS!! This old lady end user is proud that I googled and learned how to apply compatibility to Windows 10 in the software's properties. Unfortunately it didn't work with the 1997 CD I'm trying to install, so I'm still left desperate to make my babies happy. Thanks sooooo much in advance for your help!!

The reason you got that Invalid settings detected message was because you didn't see it show up when you clicked on Enable 2D Video Acceleration in the Display section of VirtualBox's Settings menu. Right after you clicked on Enable 3D Acceleration, you then clicked Enable 2D Video Acceleration. Clicking on 2D caused that Invalid settings detected message to show up. That will happen on most Linux installs into VirtualBox, from what I've seen. If you go back into VirtualBox's Settings, and then go to Display, you can uncheck the 2D setting and that error message will disappear. However, before you uncheck that 2D box, click the icon at the right end of that error message and you'll learn that that feature only works with Windows guest systems. It pays to watch your screen when you're clicking on a setting.

whoa whoa hang on. When I'm installing Ubuntu in Oracle VM VirtualBox, and i'm at the screen where it asks me if I want to Erase disk and install Ubuntu Warning: This will delete all your programs, documents, photos, music, and any other files in all operating systems. The entire reason i'm using the VM Virtualbox is so that I can keep my normal Windows OS and all the files within that. Is this going to delete EVERYTHING on my computer? Somebody please help.

This is a good video, very informative. I contemplate this as a solution in order to stream old games by having OBS record the VB-System itself when fullscreened since old PC games like Mechwarrior 3, MDK and other stuff refuses to work with streaming. But also, installing MacOS would be interesting to play the old trilogy...

It isnt working.. I cant press ok when you go into the setting as it says The Hardware Virtualization is enabled in the Acceleration section of the System page although it is not supported by the host system. It should be disabled in order to start the virtual system. and I disabled it and I still cant press ok, any help?

I followed all your instructions and clicked start. I am on a MAC running latest Catalina Software. I get this error Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu. The virtual machine 'Ubuntu' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).
