5 Steps to Make a Flat Background Look Realistic! Tutorial
video description
Another thing which comes to mind - and this may be because of mine experience in the paint manufacturing industry, where I actually make pigment dispersions on a daily basis and do weathering tests on coatings - it immediately stands out to me that a one size fits all texture is manufactured, since different-colored paints on the boards of the background are not going to weather and crack in the exact same way. I'm wondering if there's an easy way to turn a copy of that pattern fill into a mask or series of masks to which we could apply differing blend modes or opacity levels, giving each color's flaking pattern its own distinct-but-subtle difference?

Hello Unmesh! I have a question:
I have a PSD file sent over to me by a friend using Mac. Whenever I try to export the file as JPG (not as Web since I'm using it for print, the file size remains huge even if I change the image quality to low (0, the file remains the same size but the quality is lower. I've asked a few around reddit and they say that the file must've had a lot of metadata in it. Would like to know your thoughts about it and what can I do to reduce the file size from my friend's end.
Thank you!

Brilliant tutorial as always. But the light comes from the back of the subject. There is no chance we would see the shadow on the wall. The shadow would cast in front of the subject on the left. Chek the original picture in the beginning of the video and you'll see the direction and position of the shadows. Anyhow, it's grat technique. Thank you, Unmesh!

PiXimperfect - What about using Adobe Camera Raw filter for some parts of this such as adding the grain or vignette? Id maybe suggest you do a compare/contrast video sometime. Lotta cool stuff in ACR (and Lightroom.

According to the sunlight perspective, the shadow shouldn't be like that. The little light triangle between the head and the arm on the shadow shouldn't be there. The shadow perspective is wrong buddy.

The best part of your videos are; they are hardly scripted, and encourages natural/subjective approach in each use-cases.
Its never like; do this except you are on your own. I love that

I'm not an expert Unmesh but isn't the shadow too big and far with respect to the distance between the girl and the wall and the girl? It looks like something is not right.

Really not loving the example of the children's elephant background. It feels creepy, even though it was a momentary example.
