we will first use the RGB Channel to make a selection based on luminosity. Which means, the brighter areas will be selected and the darker areas won't be selected. However, since we want to modify just the opposite (i. e. dark areas, we will invert the selection. Then, putting only the dark areas on its own layer, we'll change its blend mode to screen. Remember, Screen is a blend mode which brightens up stuff! And therefore, that should do the trick! However, there might be situations where the shadows may turn out to be faded or you might observe some color shifts. We'll also discuss what to do then. I have enough examples to get that covered

I have our wedding photo that was taken from a professional (supposedly. There team when removing the shadows, made our faces appear very weird looking. It appears our faces have been distorted. I've asked numerous times for them to fix it and just kept getting worse. Anyone want to get a stab on fixing this pic? I'm curious to know if they have no idea what they are doing or is this the best that can be done.

Great video as always --
Some people like the fast talking, but that's okay. That's why God's Geeks invented pause and rewind for the rest of us lol.
However, please, when saying right or left of a person, you always refer to THEIR right and left even in a picture. Think stage right or stage left. It can be confusing when you say the left side of her face, then adjust her right side.

I love how fast you talk and how you move things along! I find videos are the best way for me to pick up on Creative Cloud features, but they usually take a lot of time, and I have to pause and repeat to get the details anyway. Your videos progress through the material quickly, so I can easily get an overview and then focus on the steps. Thank you, Sensei!

If you are going to cut out the figure and put it on a different background- would you remove the shadow first? Would you remove the shadow first before changing the overall color balance of the subject? Thank you.

Good video, but next time please indicate Hold Control on Windows or Command on Mac, and then click RGB. instead of just saying Hold Control Command and click RGB, because on MAC there is also a key called Control.

too many unnecessary words spoken. Too fast on pointer mouse actions. Had to repeat many sections before I could do it. This tutorial could have been done in 2 minutes. Just give me facts. Stay on topic.

honestly, without the dislike button plugin I would have not trusted that video. only 13k likes on half a million views is not much at all, but seeing it only has 250 dislikes shows me, this tutorial is gold

Hi. Great tutorial but I have a problem. When I select Ctrl
shift or inverse all I get is a complete selection around the whole photo not the selected light areas. Can you please help?

reply

Can you nriefly display the keyboard shortcuts you use - hard to determine what keys you call out as you say it too fast. great videos but you make the assumption we know it already,

Hi. Great great tutorial. My only slight issue is at 2: 52 I had to slow the video to x0. 5 speed to understand that I had to hold ALT to create a negative mask.
reply

Sir. Speaking speed thoda kam kijiye na. Video acha hai par der se samajh me aati hai. Bcos some viewers are very poor in english like me.
