Sorry, but I don't get one thing. I tried to bake a low poly screw just for the test of baking. Made a simple, yet hi poly model of the screw did everything that was in the video, and after that it was applied to the low poly model. and then it gets weird, 3ds max treated it just like a normal texture, skipped the unwrapping and everything. what did I do wrong? Is the way that the unwrapping of the hipoly relevant? Is the way of the low poly relevant? Should they match each other?

You can avoid the exploding process and save a lot of time by assigning a multimaterial to each object that matches in the low and high poly models. Then when you bake, choose options > tick 'Hit Only Matching Material ID'. This will avoid the overlapping cage issue you mention at the start. Great tutorial, you've really helped with a few points I was struggling with.

how would you project an object that also has a plane surface? Projection for it is just a 2d plane so pushing doesnt seem to do anything.

Good tutorial yeah but you should talk about how to bake normal maps and not the whole theory of game engines.
