I would 100% stay away from Mastodon. I mentioned free speech and my disdain for cancel culture and nearly instantly was attacked, told to put a specific mid area appendage into a fire and die then promptly called a racist white supremacist. Ended up deleting my account. Nothing but fascist people on there who love silencing people who don't play the same think game. I ended up going to gab today since that's the next free speech platform the media and big tech seems to hate right now and I've been loving it so far and have yet to see a single instance of anything the fake news media claims about the gab platform. Currently active in a bunch of groups, especially raspberry pi and homeschooling groups since I both homeschool my kids and use my raspberry pi as my main pc. Awesome platform, awesome people and fake news can go screw. Don't need the lies and nonsense, it's clouding people's minds and making them act ridiculous and attacking people without even having a single intelligent thought of their own as to why they're acting that way. Scary times ahead of us.

but ya here is some fun. the newgrp command configures the group membership with which a user wil log in. Usenet have been around since the dawn of the internet as the very first online social network. remain very much alive today. General-purpose Unix-to-Unix Copy (UUCP) dial-up network architecture.
Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis conceived the idea in 1979, and it was
established in 1980.

Too many rules. What about just 1 rules, nl. -rule 1. don't post stuff, and don't do stuff, that goes against the local law.- Why can't people post about socialism or why can't people post about right wing subjects? This is yet another platform with rules that can be enforced based on opinions of those who are in power. No thanks.

Politics is being involved in the welfare of the polis, the state, our society. I won't be on any platform where there is such a ban as described in this video. However, I love DT and wish you all well on this new platform.

As I am already on Mastodon on another instance, is there any reason or benefit to moving? Do I just sign up for another account here? Do I delete my other account? Somewhat new-ish to Mastodon so entirely sure on this.

No scraping?
I don't understand why anyone would want to do this, but also I don't see that you can enforce the rule.
Is there a way to prevent scraping other than changing the Website/API?

It was fun while it lasted, but DT is done. Distrotoot is ending in it's current incarnation. A community member has plans to take up the Distrotoot mantel but DistroToot is now dead.

Do you have federation enabled? I looked you up from the instance I use and I only see posts from a week ago, and it's still showing the .technology instance name.
