Hey DT, the fringe mode is also used for git gutter plugin, that shows newly added lines and/or modifications made i.e changes that are not staged and pushed to the repo. It kinda helps when coding. I've been using Doom Emacs, and loving it so far, much better than vscode, though for some people it can be irritating because Emacs is configured by modifying config files, rather than a GUI. But I prefer to edit config files, as I have finer control over what I do, Also its much more flexible and customizable. With a couple of keybindings I can compile and run my program, which is awesome, never have to move my hand away from keyboard, plus the combination of TWM, Ah! Such perfection :D

A package I use and suggest is mixed-pitch-mode, which helps displaying both variable pitch fonts and monospace fonts at the same time. I want org-mode to look more like a regular document, but still want code to be monospace because of obvious reasons, so mixed-pitch-mode is a good quick fix for that. Also, if you write a lot and use a lot of emphasis markers, just keep them visible, the behavior when they're hidden becomes really confusing and unclear . Like if you go to the beginning of the word and cw for change word, it just removes the invisible asterisk for example.

Just started using Doom emacs and love things like org mode but I am having a hard time making -basic- changes like autocomplete for c++ or automatically inserting boilerplate at the beginning of a new c++ file. I would like to do my basic coding in emacs but I don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze. When most of the coding features are standard in most IDEs by default. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just started using Emacs and doom. Whenever I try to apply a font-change, I get multiple errors on load, and end up going back to the default font.
So now a silly question: Do we have to download these fonts first, and then put in a certain directory to make it work?
Thank you! Looking 4ward to change the fonts.

Hey DT, you should check out a site called flatkill(.)org. It goes in depth about how insecure Flatpaks really are.
Main key points are as follows:
1. Sandbox is a lie
2. Security updates are severely delayed/none at all
I'm aware this video has nothing to do with Flatpaks, but it's still definitely worth mentioning

Thank you very much for your emacs videos. Thanks to you, I became an emacs user three months ago. Now I have completely switched to doom emacs.
I have one question. How to make it so that doom emacs accessed config.org and not config.el?

A perfect rebound for a failed Patron Chat today. Sorry that your Live Stream didn't go well for you Sunday. It was fun to watch. But I love this Doom Emacs stuff. I LOVE Doom Emacs and I use it a lot whenever I try any creative writing.

I tried it and it had some serious latency issues and it was slow while scrolling through basic 100 lines file. I wanted it to work so bad. But I'm sticking to nvim for now.

I'm tempted to try emacs but already sank way too many hours into vim getting everything how I want it, and am afraid of how long it'd take to get emacs up to that level.

Nice topic! Just getting started listening. I recently configured DOOM to use my favorite font, Fira Code. Hope to have the ligatures working at some point.
