5 BEST FREE Video Editing Software - Kevin Stratvert learn about the best 5 free video editors. First, I show you how to use a video editor that comes for free with Windows 10. The Windows 10 free video editor is a basic editor that can produce nice videos. However, there are some drawbacks. Next, we look at the OpenShot video editor. OpenShot is easy to use, quick to learn, and a surprisingly powerful video editor. Next, we review ShotCut video editor. Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. Major features include support for a wide range of formats; no import required meaning native timeline editing; Blackmagic Design support for input and preview monitoring; and resolution support to 4k. We then look at Kdenlive, another free and open source video editor that's easy to use. Lastly, we look at the video editor that I personally use, DaVinci Resolve 17. DaVinci Resolve is divided into pages, each of which gives you a dedicated workspace and tools for a specific task. Editing is done on the cut and edit pages, visual effects and motion graphics on the Fusion page, color correction on the color page, audio on the Fairlight page, and media organization and output on the media and deliver pages. At the end, we also take a quick look at a few other noteworthy mentions, including VSDC Video Editor, HitFilm Express, and VideoPad. - Video Editing software mentioned in the video - OpenShot: https://www.openshot.org/ - ShotCut: https://www.shotcut.org/ - Kdenlive: https://kdenlive.org/en/ - DaVinci Resolve: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/ - VSDC Editor: http://www.videosoftdev.com/ - HitFilm Express: https://fxhome.com/product/hitfilm-express - VideoPad: https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/index.html - In-depth tutorials (these will teach you all the core functionality to help you get started): - Windows 10 Free Video Editor: https://youtu.be/t6yQwLuoO3w - OpenShot: https://youtu.be/rLWXlc1BW-I - Shotcut: https://youtu.be/PCMcyYAtRzw - DaVinci Resolve: https://youtu.be/UguJiz9AYM8

This is a lot of information. I used Vegas and PD when they were just programs you bought and owned. Got sick of the subscription idea quickly, so looked for free stuff. A lot of useful vids on the various offerings. I stumbled on ShotCut and watched some SC vids, including yours. It does transistions. No transitions is kind of a killer for the Win free editor. It is nice to get a glimpse of the really capable stuff. I didn't really see myself doing color or white balance, but Shotcut makes it quite easy. I watched La Notte last night. Antonioni didn't need a lot of special effects. He forces the viewer to create the story mentally, with bits and pieces scattered around. Some say it is Cubism, but I don't see that in Shotcut under Filters. A lot of this video stuff is crap. Not your videos, they are the real deal.

Hey Kevin, for starters your videos are amazing. It saved me unnecessary udemy payments for the same tutorials on visio, excel basics and a lot more. I am a youtuber too but more of a content creator in music. Your passion for youtube is really motivating for me, as I handle my passion and my profession together. 14 years in Microsoft sounds really interesting. I hope to grow like you someday! Regards, an engineer whos sings! :)

Your videos are a great alternative to film school. I hate to admit it, but in answer to your question of what I use it would be the utilitarianly named Video Editor. If you can live without transitions, it's something you can become expert at in half an hour by watching your vid on it.

Started to use the Windows video editor as my first step into this area. so simple to use and was doing the basics in just a few minutes. very happy. when i have more time i will try one of the others, but for now i am happy. thank you for your suggestions

Thanks for another great video. I began using Openshot after watching your tutorial on it and have found it more than meets my simple needs. I also have DaVinci Resolve, but it's so complicated I get overwhelmed. I just need simple. Thanks again

Very interesting video. However, DaVinci Resolve free version asks me to give my phone number, my name and other personal information in order to get the free version. Technically it's free, but this is something worth mentioning.

Thanks for these great options. I'm petrified of the whole idea, so I'll probably start with Open Shot...then if I get comfortable and feel the need for more power, maybe I'll switch. Appreciate your selections so much!

This is one of the best video for beginners who want to learn video editing, I was shocked that I had the first one without Realizing but I did use it thinking I downloaded it haha.

Please do NOT use Videopad, I was able to edit and complete 2 videos before it wouldn't let me continue anymore without paying. It is most certainly not 100% free
