I have tried this and still the resolution looks too grainy and it-s driving me nuts. I don-t have this issue with Disney+ and discovery+, so I know my device is perfectly capable of streaming in a high resolution. It bothers me that I pay the most money for the streaming service that delivers the worst quality. Does anyone have suggestions for alternative ways of fixing this?

If you are having low resolution/bitrate on your PC Browser it's because chrome/firefox blocks HD streaming (DRM). I finally found a solution for this: download the Netflix App from Microsoft Store. Using the app you can watch in 1080p+ :) Took me a while to find this solution - have fun!

I have the standard HD 1080p plan, have the settings set to High, have extremely fast internet, and a fantastic monitor and Netflix plays like I'm watching movies on a flip phone. Only Netflix does this. All my other streaming services are fine.

For everyone new coming here who's trying to figure it out why their image is still shitty I've got the solution.
Use Microsoft Edge if you're on windows.
Use Safari if you're on MacBook.
Use the Netflix App for every other device.

I was amazed how bad the 4k resolution looks at Netflix, especially the very dark colors look very blurry, not even near Blu-ray. They use a really low quality compressing codec to save bandwidth at 4k.

i encounter a lot of posterization (colour banding) in dark scenes, its the compression of netflix in general i guess but it bothers me. i also encounter this in kodi with an external player.

i have the ultra hd package and i changed the setting but the quality is still very bad on some movies or shows on my ps4, my internet connection is good and everything just bad quality

Right Now there are no more than 30 Thriller Movies on Netflix. Most havr been stuck on Netflix for months now. Im Disappointed and considering dropping Netflix.

Yeah, but how do you make it so it's always best quality though? I've selected -Best Quality-, but most times it still plays in what looks like 480p
