I used to not keep blackfins, and then one time yellowfin fishing was slow so at night time for fun. We caught a bunch of black fin footballs and kept some and getting home and eating fresh next to yellowfin all of us agreed that the blackfin might have actually been a little bit better than the yellowfin. There can be other conditions in play because there’s one particular area that the yellowfin are very lazy fighters. They practically swim to the boat onto the gas and those taste 1 million times better than the ones 5 miles to the west where they 70 pounders pulled 25 pounds of drag like it’s nothing But a lazy ones taste better and I assume that’s due to lactic acid in the meat

How do you stop the bait from being pulled out of the water by the kite kite Are you letting line out all the time of do you have a way of keeping it just at the top of the water with some sinker just heavy enough to stop it becoming a flying fish
I saw a great video once where a guy set a full size kite off the beach and as it went he attached baited hooks then when he had enough baits out he disconnected the kite waited a couple of hours then began the epic task of pulling in god only knows how many 100s of yards of line in and about half the hooks had good sized fish none less than 3lb and some were in double figures, it was more like paracord than fishing line.

I very new to offshore fishing. I am in Jupiter and went out twice last week flatline drifting live sardines at the ledge in about the same depth, 140-200ft. Just about every bait I put out got smoked within like 5 min by a Bonita. I simply could not escape them after moving spots & depths a dozen times. Maybe it was just those days I was there, but are there any tips to avoid the Bonita when drift fishing

Excellent job! I appreciate the detailed work you all put into your video! Professional and top-notch! On a side note, I am looking for a boat similar to yours. However I want a bit of more front-bow seating. What would you recommend. I want a mix of family to a fishing boat 25-26’.

Super solid blackfin! Fish always seem to be a little extra spunky when the weather gets dodgy. Makes for some hard choices for us kayak fishermen. That cook-up looked amazing. Might have to try that with some shibi (yellowfin) out here in Maui.

Boobers Glid no probs, still better than using the word like ten times in less than five min, as you did in the past, at least now I can start watching your vids again with audio. Great clip otherwise, and awesome cook segment. Keep them coming.

Just got back from a 2 day trip 70 miles off San Diego. My buddy and I tag teamed a 200lb bluefin that took about 1 hr 15 to bring in. The weather was rough getting out there, but it seems to be what the tuna demand for good fishing at times

Great video Vik! Always fun watching you, Dennis and Brian getting it done out there. Sweet Blackfin! I’ve never caught one over 20 lbs. I need to try the tuna burgers. That was a cool cook.
Stay safe out there guys.

Victor, it is illegal to keep fish foul-hooked or tail-wrapped, and you knew it was, because you stated its tail was wrapped and you took an illegal fish. I didn't notice your other half fishing where was he

It's called baby brain, Vic. But it's Brooke who's supposed to have it! Beautiful tuna and, as always, a delicious meal for the crew. I make fish cakes the same way with pompano. Yum!
