I counted over 200 waIIeye in the 10 to 14 pound range in rotting piIes by the river in Trenton. they had been fiIIetted and Ieft on the banks in piIes about 3 feet high; and they were aII femaIes with the eggs stiII inside. they never had a chance to spawn. They had been netted (net stiII on the bank by the dam) and some had been speared through the head with a pitchfork.
FoIks shouId remember that the next time they go and buy waIIeye fiIIets instead of catching them yourseIf.
If you want to know why the fish popuIation is decIining; that is your reason.

There is no doubt there are some absolute tanks in Quinte. I've caught a lot of walleye there over the years. Fished it for over 20 years
