DEAR JOHN, I can not comment enough, and absolutely love watching your videos. the knowledge and educational information I am gaining about fishing the U K is priceless. my wife is from the u k, and I will accompany her to England for a whole year and a half. we will arrive sometime between august to October of 2022. she has taken a position as doctor of physical therapy at lakenheath Air Force base. we will during our stay will be doing a lot of fishing and foraging for various shell fish. we both love fishing as we have a sport fishing business in mexico. along with extensive fishing in the usa. I will, if you don't mind contact you upon arrival and hopefully enjoy some time fishing with you. please advise me if this is possible. regards Edward

In one of your other videos you mentioned how good it would be to know what you know now when you were starting out and it's a very good point cuz when I got started I taught myself pretty much everything I know and alot of the older people fishing would keep knowledge of rigs n baits and good marks to themselves, I understand not wanting favourite marks getting hammered by everyone but me personally I always show people what rig I'm using and I'll often give my left over bait to others while pier fishing etc cuz it may be the difference they need share the wealth and knowledge -

I often use soft rubber lures they are like a sandeel but with a curled red tail and I'll either put them on a jig head hook to save time or I'll just have them on a size 1 hook with about 3ft of line then a swivel and a 1oz barrel lead, I've been out using the latter and caught plenty of Pollack without having to change lures at all but some days go perfect other days I've gone snagged and lost gear on nearly every cast but it would be no fun if it was easy all the time hence the name fishing and not catching lol

Hey Fish Locker - I want to understand how wind direction affects the fishing. I thought it was best to fish when there was on onshore wind (i. e. wind direction pushing into the land from the sea. But, at the start of this video, when you're looking at Navionics, you say you'd fish the north side of Cornwall when the wind direction is south -> north, which would be an offshore wind for the north of Cornwall would it not?

I use navionics daily for my work, and they actually brought in a satellite overlay feature about a year ago if you have the premium version. It shows all the depths, seabed materials and it has the satellite overlay. You get a perfect precise picture of everything then. You can come within a meter or so of a specific rock if you wished.

Hey John as always super good video. I'm learning loads as a beginner! I do have a question tho in regards to your life vest. do they have a different kind of name? Or do you have a recommendation? As all I can find are heavy duty ones for sports and I'd like to keep my kit light come the chance to rock fish. Thanks in advance mate

Struggling to find accessable spots to spin for mackerel round Whitby. There's probably loads but I'm very new to this lol.
Any general areas you could recommend?
(I presume you are Eve and miles brother btw)

I love the care you take when unhooking and returning fish. Also nipping down your barbs and replacing trebles with single hooks where practical. It's not only kinder on the fish, but easier to unhook them. And if you've ever stuck yourself with a barbed hook, easier to unhook yourself too.

Really helpful video!
I-m going on holiday down to Cornwall, we are staying in Bude and will be in around widemouth bay quite a bit.
Do you know of any good spots around there? I will be there for 2 weeks over Christmas so hopefully we catch some fish.
Thanks!
