Hi John, thanks for the Shark tips, I have just returned home from a 4 day session on the Llyn Peninsula, NWales, my Orkney is still not home after it's wheel coming off 7 weeks ago so I sold my Caravan and bought a 3. 6 M Rib on a Trailer with Suzuki 15 hp. bloody flies on the plane! Glorious weather tues to fri, made my home made Chum, total rush job but here is what I do and it works. I am a Canine behaviourist and feed my dogs lots of Oily fish, when I buy tinned Sardines in sunflower oil or brine I pour the excess Oil into a jar and freeze it, after a few weeks I have enough to pour over Bran, left over rice, Dog food etc, freeze the Bucket of Chum, take it fishing. Simples! Not seen a Shark but the Mackies love following it, Whiting too! It defo keeps the shoals lingering for a bit. Saw a Guy in a boat bring up a 37 lb Tope, Never seen one in the flesh before. fantastic! Home now but before I wash engines and sort all my stuff I just have a look at F L, to see how it should be done.

Your lady wife and myself are of like mind regarding gurnard! Finest eating fish in the sea. Twenty years ago I can remember being horrified watching a crew in Tenby loading them up as pot bait because they couldn-t sell them. Can-t get them for love nor money these days as they-ve become fashionable. Which I-m happy for the inshore fishermen because they need all the help they can get but I-m not so happy that I can-t get them any more! Get your lady to do us a catch it and cook it with gurnard sometime. All the best to the Fishlocker family--

Hi thank you for posting this video. Stuck in my sick bed watching this and thinking how shark fishing has evolved since my first trip in 1970. We used heavyweight 50 or 80 pound gear with huge, heavy Penn Senator reels, which were no fun as the smaller blues could just be winched to the boat and there was no catch and release everything was gaffed and it was considered normal to kill the shark to pose for a dockside photo. How could we be so short sighted! Regards Bill

Excellent thank you. loving that ' chad' protector for the end of the road. mmm. me thinks although I'm not a fisherman that it's worth buying as a random purchase just in case I encounter my ex unexpectedly -

I remember when my Uncle Barry use to go shark fishing out of Looe in the late 60s 1 shark was a result 7 would have been unheard of. Just goes to show catch and release is the only way to maintain stocks of these fabulous predators. The underwater film of the penultimate shark swimming away was terrific. Really enjoyed this video. ----

I catch 4 regularly, although had a cracking day out last week. first codling of size to be a meal, and first conger (strap. Pin pouting and whiting are in early this year South Wales.

Good knowledge with the swim bladder and pressure.
Its true that unless you want to take an hour bringing up a little fish a foot at a time from deep water, its just going to die when you release it, it's like if you pushed a human down to that depth, the damage is just too great.

Hi John, as always loved it. nice to see you out on the boat with all the weather recently wasn't sure if you'd be able to get out. you mentioned charters, do you you run them? just thinking for summer next year. anyway loved the vid as always please keep them coming. cheers Tim

Brilliant video's, I live in Porthcurno and fish Sennen cove. Wanted to catch a blue in my kayak good idea or not? Had no idea on tackle but now watching you I think I can catch on my kayak always thought it would be big rods big tackle and clearly it's not. Thanks bud.
