kitchen Free hardwood flooring for the diy outdoor kitchen in the form of dead-standing ash trees is found in the forest around the cabin courtesy of the emerald ash borer. The ash trees are well seasoned and very straight so I will be making many things with them around the cabin, including a cordwood floor for the outdoor forest kitchen, planks for counters and furniture, arrows for target practice, dowels, tool handles and more. In Episode 15, I'll level the cordwood pieces and fill in the gaps with clay or sand

Love this, Shawn. You do some truly amazing work around your sweet homestead. I'm soooooo thankful Cali is there to help you along. Several times I catch her looking what your doing looking you, while thinking, are you sure your doing that right? It is so stinking cute! Listen to your body as your out there working, kind sir. All the best to you. That floor is UNBELIEVABLE!

In all of the building you do, I can't help but laugh a little at your side kick, Cali. She is right there at your side or under foot much of the time. I think she is your inspector. I think you are a very patient man to be so kind to her and her love of chasing after her toy. Thank you for sharing so much of your life and hard work.

I'm wondering what type of logs you are using. While in MN, for our upright cabin we used poplar and even some basswood on the second story. We did preserve it and it's held up well over all these 30 odd years. Railroad ties were used as footings.

Hello Shawn, with regards to Cali's pond, for esthetic beauty why not build an overhanging bridge such as we see in Japanese gardens? Somehow I already picture it with wood ducks and wild vegetation!

Ive heard eastern red backs called red efts. maybe they are closely related or the same but they are one of my favorite animals. Truly appreciate you checking the scrap pile for them!

Hi Shawn. I love the way Cali is so helpful. I want an outdoor kitchen like yours. If only I could keep the critters away. That kitchen is to die for. Very nice Shawn.

Just to clarify, I meant to ask what type of logs do you use for your cabin, sauna, etc? Thank you. I admire your amazing compilation of tools, by the way.

I admire your patience and attention to detail, Shawn. I'd be swearing up a storm at some of these activities - ha! I've learned so much from you.

Cali cracks me up anytime you shovel dirt or cut off wood she is there to grab it. Do you ever come across any snakes? Any poisonous ones?
