Ohh. I see people are upset by her measuring by portion. I grew up in a household where we bought things wholesale and kept 3 pantries(we homemade from scratch everything) So to this day I budget the same way. It takes a lot of creativity and smart planning but it truly does save money to measure the monetary value of a dish by ingredients stocked. And then you don't go to the store again and again to buy more food, which ultimately costs you more also. So this is a budget meal. It just may not be suited to those who don't wish to keep a fully stocked pantry. Which is many Americans and most millenials. So Rie would be welcome to do another video for persons who don't stock a pantry but for those who do, this makes sense.

I think the point of this video is that you don't have to spend a lot to make a decent meal. Reading through the comments. Yeah they measured 0. 34 for pasta, and like 0. 05 for vinigar or whatever, but think about it. In total you may spend 25 - 30 to get all of the items needed, but you can now make the meal Rie made and have plenty of other left over ingreadients to to make other things. I live by this very week because eating out is so damn expensive. If I can see what I already have in the pantry, and spend 60 on groceries (a little more if I want a steak) and create 4-5 meals at 2 servings each, that's like 6 to 7 a meal compared to a greassy 6 value meal from McDonalds or something.

I would like to see this done more properly. Im not trying to sound rude, but I feel it would have been better if they show Rei going to the store and buying everything she uses. The freebie thing to me seems like cheating for this challenge; and this challenge couldve been a real good video on how the average person could get fancier things at affordable price/promoting the advantages of cooking at home. Also the 1tsb and 1/4 of things is impractical as in real life your gonna have to buy the actual whole product unless you go to a bulk place but thats still unlikely that the things in this video couldve been bought by every drop used.

In California there's is alot of grocery stores with portioned ingredients like rice, flour, sugar, etc I love how she made eveything and would definitely recreate it but for a mom of 3 that lives in a very small city in Pennsylvania we dont have portion/bulk stores and I believe whole foods has something like that but my closest whole foods is 1 hour 45 mins from my home I'd like fine ways make this with a budget but realistically speaking for me is not possible

Dont get me wrong this isnt a hate comment i love tasty videos but this makes no sense, like I understand that the amounts she used were equal to the prices she added but its not like she actually went out and bought the items. They just used what they had in the pantry and last time i checked you cant buy spices by the tablespoon or get 1/3 of a box of noodle. So the total will most likely be much more than 15 to buy all the ingredients in a store.

Ok not to dis rie but like the only reason all this stuff came out to be cheap is because they only counted the price of the amount of each ingredient she used, in reality having to buy all those ingredients at the store prolly woulda cost like 30 bucks or more. Your never gonna go to the store and only buy a teaspoon worth of something u have the buy the full amount, soooo just sum to keep in mind haha

Rie is amazing. Because yes its probably going to cost more than 15 dollars BUT if you have a lot of the pantry stuff, you will totally pull it off. What's really more interesting is that she just taught me how to make homemade ricotta and make a creme brulee without blow torch. Overall, actually fantastic dinner night menu Please make more complete date night meals like this. Rie you're amazing

This video is misleading. she used 15 worth of food, sure. But the actual cost to get the ingredients needed. way more. You cant just buy 0. 18 worth of pasta. You get the entire box/bag. Having things like egg as a freebie. I get salt and pepper and such as freebies, but eggs should very much be part of the cost. I have to buy eggs once a week, not once every 6 months.

I wouldnt call this as a 15 challenge. No way its 15. Cuz Olive Oil s expensive, Pasta as well when bought in a Full packet, Pepper s also expensive but luckily we would have at home most of the time. And Prawn, No 1 would give 6 pcs precisely, minimum weight is 250 grams. freebies, I cannot accept that. So plzz MAKE A VIDEO WORTHY OF EVERYTHING U ADD under that BUDGET. THANKS
