Medovik Russian Honey Cake Recipe Medovik Cake Рецепт медового торта Medovik Russian Honey Cake Recipe in gr and cups медовик рецепт: 170 gr Butter ( 1 1/2 sticks) 200 gr Honey ( 7 ounces ) 170 gr Sugar ( 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) 1 1/2 tsp baking Soda 5 medium Eggs 750 gr Flour ( 5 1/3 cups ) Good pinch of Salt NOTE: This recipe makes up to 12 cake layers. Because the layers are a bit time consuming to make, I like to make a large quantity and freeze the remaning layers for another time. Use a tall pan. Once you add the baking soda, don't walk away. The mixture will lighten in color and bubble up. After 1 2 min it will start to turn a deep honey color. At that point take it off the stove immediately. Honey Cake Yogurt Frosting: 500 gr Heavy Cream ( 18 ounces ) 200 gr Greek Yogurt ( 7 ounces) 70 gr Sugar ( 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp) but you can add the sugar to your liking. 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Milk to dip the layers

Just made this and can-t wait to try it tomorrow. (FYI: For those of you who - like me - might live in countries where no heavy cream cannot be found, I found a recipe that includes cream cheese and replaced the heavy cream in this one with that. The frosting tasted great. The only issue what that it was not as thick as the one shown here, but I think it-s just a question of adjusting it. For a first-time thing (and considering I have no manual skills whatsoever) I think it turned out great.

Ok. The video is beautiful and very good, but this is not MEDOVIK. -To be exact. The dough is done CORRECTLY, but you UNDERBAKE the layers. This is first. -Second. THE LAYERS are NEVER submerged into milk. NEVER. EVER-Third. The cream feeling. -SOUR CREAM and confectioners sugar and honey. This is CLASSIC. -Variations, cooked vanilla custard. -But ORIGINAL Medovic is with SOUR cream frosting. -Your cake is awesome, but this is not MEDOVIK

I grew up in Moscow and made this cake so many times. It is delicious! However, we never dipped it in milk or made with whipped cream and yogurt. The cream was usually made from whipped sour cream and sugar with lemon zest, and nuts sprinkled on each layer. I will try making the cake following your recipe next time, just to explore a new taste. Thank you.

Hey Emma! I was so excited to make this cake and followed every step too carefully, however my layers still turned out really hard I tried to bake some layers for only 3 minutes and it still turned out hard. I don-t know if they were too thin or what exactly was the problem. :/

This looks delicious! I am planning to make it tomorrow and have a question. What is the thickness of the dough and layer dimension if you make 6 layers cake? What is the thickness of the dough and layer dimension if you make 12 layers cake? Thank you!

Hi Emma, thanks for this! It was delicious! I had one question - some of the layers looked darker in the middle as if it didnt bake properly in the middle. Some were perfectly fine (each one went in for 5/6 mins. Do you know why this may be?
