I was just thinking about this the other day, gazing in dismay at my brushes and wondering if it was actually possible to get them properly clean. They always get this sort of. little circle of yuck around the base of each bristle and I have on occasion gone through and manually sort of plucked each one off ( by sort of grabbing it with my nails and pulling it up and over the bristle, but that kind of repetitive action can make me feel really nauseated, so i can't always face the idea of doing it, so the brush goes away somewhere out of sight to be forgotten.
Now? Now I might give it another go. I just need a rake thingie and a cheap toothbrush. and some sort of soap-style product (sooo. just need to buy literally everything you mentioned, that's all.

I have actually just been thinking that I should clean my brushes. I guess most of the time you just buy a new one. Perfect timing, thanks for the tips. I ll be doing it today.
Do you have a preferred brush brand or style for the average person? I have a Wet Brush paddle brush with a combination of plastic and boar bristles, a tangle teezer for the shower, but mostly use a GHD round brush for styling. My favourite hair tool is the Kevin Murphy wide tooth comb.

I get 90% of the hair out after every brushing but today I was actually trying to get rid of those few stubborn ones that get left behind. there are still one or two but it is mostly hair free
I do need to clean off the buildup though. I have been staring at it in hopes it goes away when your video poped up xD
I can see those dust flakes sticking to the bristles, but I already washed it last week!

This video came at the best time! Last weekend, my boyfriend asked to borrow a brush and when I went to grab it, I felt embarrassed because it looked so bad with buildup! LOL. (so bad I know). This is when I realized I had let my brush get dirty for too long. I had no idea how to clean my brush until now, so thank you! will be doing this, this weekend! :)

Some of my brushes are ok and some are very not. I do try to clean hair out daily but I have hip length hair so I don t have to lose much for it to collect.
One comment on drier sheets, they have chemicals on them that you may not want on your hair or may not mix well with products. Does the same to your clothes and drier.

Every time I brush my hair, I pull the hair out of my brush. every single time. However, my hair is way passed my bum so having really long hairs left in my brush is a complete no no. I don't know how anyone could keep hairs in theirs brushes though. It would drive me insane, lol. Lee x

Right now my brushes are great because I just got a new one on the weekend. I had to get rid of my old one because it was honestly too disgusting to clean- the dust build up happened in one day so I honestly thing it was broken thanks for the video so I can stop it happening again

I remove the hair from my brush immediately after every time I use it. I just. don't want to use a hairbrush with old hairs left on it? That sounds rather gross to me.
Actually washing my brush is something I've never even thought of, though. Thanks for the tip, Kayley!

Just add baking soda to the water, let it sit for 15 minutes and then just rinse it - the baking soda helps to dissolve the dirt on the brush. If you have boar bristle brush, use vacuum cleaner to clean the hair and dust first.
