You know it’s hugely unfair to talk about actual harmful themes in animated movies.
Then place that Little Mermaid scene of Ariel talking about how she’ll never see her family again yet Ursula says that she’ll get her man.
I went to the MoMoCon convention just recently and met both Jodi Benson and Chris Daniel Barnes, Ariel and Eric, themselves.
Somebody in the Q & A line asked them what actually thought of people claiming that Ariel only went on land for a man.
Their reply was,
Watch the first 15 minutes of the film.
In other words Ariel didn’t do it for a man.
She did it because she longed to live on land.
It was so spot on!
Honestly, if kids today actually believe that Ariel did that all for a man.
Then it’s the parents’ fault for misleading them or not properly explaining that to them in the first place and not the movie.

To me when it comes to normalization of harmful things of what children see on screen, all too often lack of talking to their children has always been left completely out of the conversation and we need to start talking about it more right now. and parents when someone suggests blaming popular media rather than taking responsibility and talking to your child, nine times out of ten they’re not trying to protect your child, They’re trying to distract your parenting into being more desperate to a point where it becomes unhealthy.

you make many good points about the animation industry, hopefully it changes over time.
HOWEVER, things like cultural appropriation and normalization of harmful themes, while it can be true for some movies, i have a feeling you could be looking at it a bit too much. you're scrutinizing films like aladdin and characters like dr facilier, when those characters and movies are amazing.
also, what are the chances that kimba and simba are like the prince and the pauper, strangely similar, but completely unrelated

On the part of Idea Theft, I remember a comic I read, PS238. Aaron Williams once talked about how Disney approched him for the rights to it and he said that he wanted to maintain creative control because he had a specific path for the story. They wouldn't agree so no deal came from it. Soon afterwards the movie Sky High came out. It seemed like they wanted to slap PS238 on it for an established franchise to build on but the movie was already mostly made. When he didn't agree, they just did something else.

All I'll say about the animation industry is that like any industry it isn't perfect, God knows that the film industry in general certainly isn't perfect.
And people can say what they will about these particular animated films, But some of them will always be my all time favorites!

I may take issue with some of the truths and take iother truths with a grain of salt. I do believe that these dark triths are some of the reasons animation will always be seen by Hollywood as a genre and not as part of the media.

If The Lion King is such a rip off of Kimber, The White Lion, why do people love The Lion King more Now I have nothing against Kimba, but y’all need to let it go. The creators of TLK did nothing wrong.

Diversity is a word people DON'T want in entertainment these days. Also, they need to go back to family-friendly content: no gender queerness, no white man bad, men are men&women are women, and no grooming.

Here's a fun drinking game. Take a shot every time they mention diversity in this video. It'll be the fastest you've ever gotten drunk in your life without literally chugging a whole letre of vodka.

Aladdin is not a ripoff of the thief and the cobbler and lion king is not a ripoff of Kimba the white lion so Eric Goldberg worked at Richard Williams studio before he came to Disney big deal

personally the whole issue with diversity and all that is annoying. yeah things will change eventually but also the people in charge should be in charge if they are good at the job.

I have an advice for the people in the animated union without a job in studios. Shut up about diversity, stop begging the people to support you and get a job. GET A JOB DSP, GET A JOB.

EVERYTHING comes back to money. The love of money is the root of all evil.
Until we start prioritizing literally any incentives apart from financial ones, NOTHING will change.

1) I don't agree with some of the stuff on this list because they're not taking into consideration history or context and 2) Welcome to the art world in the commercial sense.

The Lion King did not rip off Kimba the white lion. That show did run before the movie but in fact copied aspects from then Lion king after. Kimba was also terribly racist

It's a shame about the lack of diversity in the animation industry, but luckily, that's starting to change, with people of colour getting the chance to tell their own stories.

Gender identity shouldn't be in animated movies/TV series geared at kids. It's okay to have these issues in adult cartoons like South Park or Beavis and Butthead.
