we’re counting down the former child stars who have gone public about their difficult paths. Our countdown includes Tatum O'Neal, Amanda Bynes, Macaulay Culkin, and more! What do YOU think must be the hardest aspect of being a child star As a former swimming competitor, I am so proud of those now opening up about their struggles from their past experiences that even I have been through some of them myself back when I was well-known. Mental health and well-being should be taken seriously just like everything else as well.

Is nobody gonna call out the parents who aided, abetted, and profited from the abuse their kid suffered
Child stars going back to Shirley Temple and Spanky and Our Gang have been getting jerked over by parents, the studios, the hangers-on [both friends of the kid and adults], and even the State of California. All these clowns make their fortunes off the child actor's work and then people look down their noses when the child actor turns into a lousy adult.
Don't get me wrong here. After you turn 18 your decisions and the consequences thereof are your own. But it's pretty tough to stand up to the machine that's consuming you when you've been groomed since the age of 6 to trust it.

I don't think this subject should be a Top list.
You don't rank people's bravery or handling about handling dier situations, not even celebrities and especially not if the situations were routed in their childhoods.

I really applaud these celebrities for opening up about their addiction struggles, which stemmed from them being thrust in the limelight at young ages. Thankfully, many of them appear to be thriving nowadays, and are sober.

Atop of Macalauy Culken’s career resurgence, he appears to be happy to be a husband and father. His expression of gratitude for his family at the Hollywood Walk of Fame is wonderful.

Poor parenting or parents using their kids to pay the bills. Almost all of the people on this list have discussed the poor parenting they had, or it was discussed in the media numerous times.

I think we can all agree that Demi Lovato is an icon of sorts for Mental Health Awareness, considering she’s on Top #1 in almost all Watch/MsMojo.

I think one of the biggest issues of being child star is not the fact that you want to act but the people you might be put around while your acting

Addiction is a disorder of the hedonic system in the brain. Truely an interesting pathway that raises qaundries pertaining to determinism.

The hardest part about being a child star is what happens when you are no longer a child star and no one wants you around.
