Basically saying, what do you expect? It's the 4th entry to a saga, of course it's gonna' struggle to captivate an audience.
I guess Keanu Reeves never got that memo. Cause John Wick: Chapter 4 was a commercial success.
It comes to show that when you make a good film or at least consistently make pretty good films in a franchise, the audience will pay good money for them. The problem with this franchise was two things. One, they took way too long to make this 4th entry and two, the last entry was flat out terrible. Making The Expendables 3 a PG-13 action movie was a HUGE mistake. Stallone should have known by the 3rd entry who his audience was. People loved, at least the first two entries, these films because their assemble cast (adding Jean Claude Van Dame and making him the antagonist in Expendables 2 was brilliant) and over the top violence. The type of violence only an R-rating can deliver. Now, to Stallone's credit this 4th entry did go back to that R-rating, but too little, too late I'm afraid. That 3rd entry ruined this entire franchise. Time to move on, Mr. Stallone.

I agree with the video to a certain extent. Yes, lack of awareness is one contributing factor. I hardly saw posters or the usual constant advertising that the previous entries had. The fact that it didn t have the star power the previous films had also was a factor. The plot was too generic in quality and more appropriate for those direct to streaming films. There was no wow factor in the screenplay. Stallone gave out too early the idea of passing the torch over to Statham so even though it was bound to happen at some point, he should ve kept it under wraps. Years after Expendables 3, some actors were rumored to join the franchise. Pierce Brosnan was approached by producer Avi Lerner sometime in 2019 about a role in a future entry in the series to which he agreed. What happened to that? Also, Terry Crews had a fallout with the producers which was why he sat this one out and 50 Cent was his replacement. This could kill off what s left of the franchise.

I mean, look at how many actors are missing from the previous films, and there aren't really any other new Big names besides Andy Garcia that makes me want to go see this movie in theaters. They could've gotten other actors like Nicolas Cage, Travolta, Pacino, Brad Pitt, Wahlberg, or any other Big name stars that were the reason to attract us to this franchise in the first place.

They are known for their charismatic old school actors. It lost half of its cast and replaced bad guys with nobodys which leaves you no fear for the expendables. Even all of the good cast are missing for half of the film. Oh and its full of bad CGI. Films used to be badass with some humour now its just trying to be funny and its done badly

Obviously, the movie failed not because of the Stars power, it because of the story telling itself. In the movie business it very important that directors know what he/she was doing or otherwise that movie going to be a bump ride regardless the super star was in it.

Had to stop watching after 32 seconds. Most people don't give a rats ass what critics think. This movie bombed because nobody knew it was coming or even out. For example I didn't even know this was a thing until i seen people panning it yesterday.

It was a really terrible movie, also all the actors are super old and it makes NO sense seeing them perform action. The writing was hot garbage, the plot was dog poop and Stallone did nothing but smoke cigars and that's about it.

I personally don't care about critics or people opinions I will be watching this. There have been tons of shows and movies that have been cancelled or had a bad review that I have enjoyed. Tales from the neverending story is one.

Because people prefer to wait for the stream or buying digital version, nowadays people will go to theatre if their friends or family go too, and they prefer the movie that have lot of hype, Ex4 isn't one of it.

The first movie was bad but was successful because of nostalgia, audiences liked the older actors, not necessarily the movie! Making a fourth instalment is trying the patience of the faithful, it is just too much!

Because only old men of an era (like my dad and uncle) laughed at the jokes in the commercials and they only go to one movie a year and it got used up taking my mom and aunt to the Barbie movie.

I didn't even know it came out yet. I saw ONE trailer and don't even remember if their was a in theater date in said trailer. I was still waiting for trailer 2 and 3 and a drop date. Smh.

Out of all 4 it is the worst one. I loved it. If you love or like the these movies give it a go. Fingers crossed they do a 5th one and they get everyone back.

Always seen Expendables as basically the retirement home for action stars. Never got the appeal, so the decline isn t that shocking to me.

I think a big thing is people just don't want to pat to see movies like this anymore. It's much more of a fun streaming flick
