The Big Mistake Disney Confessed To Making With Star Wars
video description
So, please Disney: Make you StarWars films, make Anthology movies, make a new saga (without loser Rian Johnson) with a complete new story and I will watch it. StarWars forever!

Disney's mistake was not the timing for the release but the CONTENT and plot of some of their Star Wars movies. Episode VII was a OK movie but with some flaws including the fact that it was a very fast moving plot that mimicked Episode IV (A New Hope. J. J. Abrams did a good job as a new director for the franchise, could have been better, but it wasn't bad. Then we get Rogue One. To me, that was up to now, the best Star Wars movie made by Disney since Mickey Mouse took the helmet. It was classic, it was funny, it was sad, it had lots of action, drama and suspense. The plot was well done. Director Gareth Edwards did a very good job and he should be part of the crew for future movies in my opinion. Then comes Episode VIII and Solo. Two very big disasters. They should have kept J. J. Abrams for the new trilogy instead of doing one movie, getting out just to bring him back to Episode IX. Bad move. And the Solo movie? Please stop making movies that show original characters when they where young. Follow Rogue One concept and only let them appear for a few seconds here and there like they did with Princess Leia and Grand Moff Tarkin. But showing Han Solo young? Bad mistake, why? Because we ALREADY saw him young on the original trilogy. Leave it alone. I hope J. J. Abram can fix somehow the mess with the upcoming Episode IX and hope they use the correct talent like Gareth Edwards to direct again future movies (thankfully, the Skywalker Saga ends on Episode IX. We will have to wait and see. At least now they are listening to fans. That is a big plus, just like with Warner Bros and DC admitted they really screw up Justice League and are attempting to fix it. Good luck to them.

What Bob Iger said was:
I think the mistake that I made I take the blame was a little too much, too fast
This can be interpreted a couple ways. Most people seem to be interpreting this as fatigue. But Iger never said fatigue. He could also have meant poor planning. Lucasfilm set about trying to make movies so quickly that they didn't take the time to sit down and plan out a cohesive trilogy. There also doesn't seem to be one person in charge of the overall story arcs to keep the continuity of the trilogy together. This should have been Kennedy's job as she is the one who replaced George Lucas and that's what Lucas did. It's obvious Kennedy passed the buck on to lower producers and directors and did not engage in the creative decision making. She just nodded her head and said ohhh porgs are so cuuute! Yes, that's fine Rian. Seriously, she is just a glorified secretary.
Anyway, I digress.
tldr;
My point is that Iger may be taking the blame of too much, too fast as more to do with poor planning and not so much as fatigue. Either way I still blame Kennedy.

The fans are not fatigued about Star Wars, DC comics. etc. but what they are tired about is poor quality films being released. The people who don't produce movies well, just blame the audience and say that people are getting tired of superhero movies and epic movies, but it is just not so. I can still go back and watch the Batman Animated Series: it is classic, likewise Tim Burton's Batman films. However, the Batman and Harley Quinn (2017) animated movie, and the Killing Joke are garbage. .. the worst writing and they just annihilated their own characters. Likewise, Star Wars fans still like the originals the best. Films need talent thrown at it, not just money -- and I'm not just talking about actors - but the director controls the narrative, and the script is the foundation. It doesn't matter how many good actors are in a movie, or great voice over actors are in a film if the main authority figures over the franchise are fools. Just as if a king delegates fools to be leaders makes him a fool, these franchise owners need to make sure they install the right people.

The problem wasn't the 4 movies in 2 1/2 years, Disney has great success in the MCU there. Rogue One was a bit less viewed but that was because not all like stories where none of the big 3 appear (though Vader was there and they knew it.
The problem was that Episode VIII broke with all that VII introduced us too. They also could have changed the story, killing Leia off and letting Luke live instead to still have their idea of one of the big three per movie having their goodbye. But no. no Snoke story, no Rey falling to the dark side as Luke did in the now called Legends material, no betrayal of the student Kylo which would've been cool as a motivator to see his father was right and to at least become a Grey Jedi again (I use the old term here, I don't keep that much up with the new stuff as it is partially weird, no Knights of Ren introduced in VII, no explanation where Maz got the lightsaber, not to mention no grieving Han in VIII by Luke (why only a 10 second deleted scene) and so much more.

While Disney finally decided to slow down their release of Star Wars movies, and that's a damn good decision given how TLJ pretty much tore the fanbase apart, and then Solo was struggling consequentially only a few months later, I'm honestly concerned if it's too late. I liked the idea originally of a Star Wars movie once a year, and moving it to Christmas for the first 3 films seemed a good move to add a feeling of being special, what got me really thinking hard was the decision to move Solo to May again, and to me, that, plus all the hate caused by TLJ is what caused the movie to under perform (Solo's good IMO, saw it twice in theaters. Disney should have rescheduled the release the moment the outcry from TLJ reached ginormous proportions, and using the customer-company analogy, for them not to have put that into consideration is bone-headed, to say the least. I just hope JJ Abrams can deliver an end to the Skywalker Saga that would at least bring all of us Star Wars fans back together.

I can't speak for everyone else. But I didn't much like Episode 8. The story was lacking and the side story ended up being meaningless, so that was a wasted subplot entirely. I didn't care for Solo, cause, unlike most fans, I never liked Han Solo to begin with. So a film based entirely on him was never going to win me over anyway. Its not that 'Star Wars Fatigue' is a thing, for me, it isn't. You release a good movie every month, I will be there in the theater, watching itI saw Deadpool 2, 3 times and Infinity War twice in the same month. I wish they released Marvel movies more often and faster to be honest. I eat that up like candy. But thats because the stories within are more nuanced and carefully crafted pieces of a larger, ever expanding puzzle. Until they write better stories, their movies are going to do poorly. I will never get tired of going to the movies, but I won't go see something that isn't interesting.

Love it. Fans are just experiencing Star Wars Fatigue. As long a s Disney keeps telling themselves that this is why fans didn't see Solo on theaters, they will continue to pump out crap stories, and drive the franchise into the ground.
The problem isnt fan fatigue. Everyone knows the problem, its Disneys handling of the story and completely changing characters that everyone already knows and loves. The fans are not going on the ride Disney has created for them.
Star Wars fans are still fans, they do just like to see Disney sell it to someone else who knows what they are doing.

The
Quality needed not quantity.
Older star wars fans have given up on the franchise and newer audiences are preferring Marvel films. This should be enougth for Disney to grasp they are getting it wrong. Firstly they wrek the original stars characters against the stars wishes. The new villains are more manky than frightening and powerful. Then the plots are attempts to re do older plots just bigger. Rogue 1 could have been great if a few character could have survived, indeed they could have stared in their own trilogy.
I feel the mystery and excitement has gone out of the galaxy.

The issue isn't star wars fatigue we as fans would love a year to year release. The problem is the bad story writeing and politics from right now in America. We go to the movies to get away from all that for the most part. Yes there are movies about all that we go to see and bad story writing is always a gable. Now we have both in literally the beloved movie, book and comic series ever. Disney then began to insult and belittle the lifetime fans for what ever reason when we gave them away out. It is obvious why the past few movies were crap dont sugar coat it dam.
