Signs was pretty bad, but what was Burton thinking with Planet of the Apes If Whalberg is going backwards through time, back to when he left, any changes he made to the timeline would be undone. The timeline disruption is not going backwards, Even for SciFi and all the suspension of disbelief in the world, that just made no sense, utterly ridiculous. Other than that I didn't mind the movie at all, nothing on the 1968 original but pretty good. As for Star Trek. It has to be Canon. you can't just muck around with tech and plot and story however you want and say, Oh, It's a different timeline, Go smoke a pole (I'm looking at you Discovery.

A good twist or reveal should service the story. It should be something that helps complete the story. If you can remove the twist and still have the story play out the same, you didn't need the twist.
Rey being a Palpatine didn't help her win or really impact anything. It was a twist for the sake of having a twist.
In contrast when Luke finds out Darth Vader is his father, that enables the whole third act of the next movie. It is that relationship that prevents Luke from turning to the dark side and also causes Vader to turn on the Emperor and save Luke.

ST Into Darkness is my favorite from the new Star Trek movies. Just hit me the right way, and I liked how original Spock was like He's the worst - don't trust him! or something along those lines. It's a nice knod to the originals, and the movie builds up the relationship between Spock and Kirk very well.

ST Into Darkness would have been better with Benicio Del Toro (even tho I love umberbatch)- but still needed a better script.
per Ironman3- I love Trevor Slattery! Crystal Skull was a hard left back to the producers' love of pulp serials.

What are you even talking about buddy! Benedict's characters actual name get told less than half way through the movie. Up until that time, he is under the alias John. What is difficult about that

The movies on this list I had no interest in with exceptions being even with some awful plot twists that ruined the good movies I enjoyed; The Mandarin (Iron Man 3); Spectre;

I’m sorry, but I won’t allow anyone to besmirch Identity. That is a unique and cool concept and to this day, I haven’t seen another movie do something like that.

6: 04 the happening is one of the worst movies of that decade. Nobody was ever on the edge of their seat unless they were getting up to leave

Poor M Night. He makes up half the list. I don't think he deserves all that. He makes beautiful movies. just until the end.
