Just finished the demo. It’s been on my radar for a while but I wasn’t sure about the combat. I am not a fan of souls like games and I was concerned this would be another. After the demo it seems like the combat is fine enough because I was excited about all the rest of the game (story and vibe. It does seem like you’ll need a notepad for sure to play this game and I’m curious how more than a few hours of no map and not much in the way of clues will be but I think it’s a game I’ll pick up. Thanks as always Jake!

I'm so sick of soulslike games that just by seeing the HUD I immediately get put off. I stuck around to hear Jake's opinion on it all, but man I really couldn’t feel more meh about this and any other game that follows this soulslike trend. It’s not just the gameplay it has to have a muddy color palette, it has to be sad, it has to be oppressive, it has to have the boring put-you-down OST. Damn. You guys might not agree with me on this, but DAMN, I've been tired of it for a while now.

I don’t like most souls-like games but this demo was fun and highly interesting. Combat was challenging, but not frustratingly difficult like a lot of games of this genre. Exploration is feels fun and fresh bc it doesn’t hold your hand and almost makes you feel like a defective. That conbined with the lore in the world makes magic. Talking to an NPC who lost his sons just to then find one of the sons watches later and bring it full circle is so satisfying.

Yeah having no maps or markers so you figure where to go is going one of two ways khazan where the levels are easy enough to get around not that confusing or lords of the fallen where it's a massive headache figuring where the hell to go next I personally find it very off putting having no direction's on where to go in a game I don't want in my face constant markers every game but a map feels like a requirement with games getting big like they are

God I hate Redditors and there opinions. For everyone saying souls slop I get you’ve seen a video and been on reddit congrats! People acting like they own dodging and striking mechanics that are literally as basic as it can get and are featured in games all the time. Also I didn’t know there was a whole game demo like some people are acting and not just a hour of basically a tutorial.

No Map capabilities in a world with current/advanced technology (even the 1990s) completely breaks the immersion for me. I'm not saying every sci/fi game should have a map, but if you don't then at least explain why, like when current horror movies explain why there is no cell phone reception. I can use pen and paper just fine, but just don't break the immersion. Thoughts

This game was not on my radar, and I missed the demo as well. I do remember a trailer of some sort maybe at Summer Fest, but I wasn't too interested. I do think now, however, that this could be worth the experience, having seen reviews from you and ACG. I love the idea of just getting lost in the world without a task list and a bunch of arrows and markers all over my screen.

Been on my radar since it was first released. Played the demo and thought it had a lot of potential. Not sure if I buy it right away, but it seems like at that first sale price in a few months I should give it a go. A semi open world, fully check out area type of games are great. Not going to enjoy the no direction as I do get lost, but that is the game design

The setting, storytelling, exploration etc. are all good, but why did it have to be yet another soulslike It doesn't even make sense in the game where you save your progress at certain places with floating radios or something! Also you could see even in the demo the enemy variety was very very bad. It puts it in the wait for a sale category for me.

Oh wow. the 2, 348th Souls-like game of the year! I have a wife & kids so I'm good on these insanely difficult dime a dozen clones. If it takes 100 tries then its the complete opposite of of this thing we used to call. FUN in video games. If I take better care of my video game characters then I do my actual physical self. it's a problem.

THIS is the sort of evolution I wanted from the Souslike genre. Weird offshoots that keep the basic genre principles but do their own thing in a unique setting. So refreshing compared to the billionth medieval/East Asian dark fantasy game where you go around killing zombies and experiencing a vague story.

I don’t like these types of enemies. Like those blob people in Spiderman 2. They are like VR’ enemies in Batman Arkham Knight, or the oily blobs in Resident Evil 7. If I’m not killing people’ or zombies or aliens or what not I don’t really care. I suppose I need therapy. But still, no consequences.

Love the review. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Played the demo through twice, because I wanted to see what else I could discover and where else I could explore in this world. I am probably going to get frustrated with getting lost further in, but I'm actually really excited to play this!

I loved the demo! Was sold on this game since they first showed and explained it. The game forces you to be engaged and pay attention to what is happening in front of you. It demands your attention and respects your ability to progress on your own. One of my most anticipated games this year for sure

While this isn't a soulslike, it bears the resemblance to one very strongly. And after Lies of P Overture, I am just stuffed.
The no map and navigation system sounds like a cool challenge, but the combat is a no for me. Especially since it appears to be the weakest aspect of the game.

It looks interesting, but not having some kind of map is a deal breaker for me. I get it, the game's made to be like an old school exploration, but I need to have at least some general idea of the direction I need to go. Especially if there are a bunch of puzzles to solve.

I was playing the demo when the video dropped XD
I found it interesting that it's a souls like, but enemies don't come back, you don't go grab your souls where you died. It encouraged exploration. Not gonna get it right away, but I'll wish list it until price droops.

I am getting this. So tired of modern games holding hand so hard. Every 5 seconds it tells you where to go, what to click, press the button to make thing happen. Finally a game that doesn't hold your hand. A game that let you learn and think on your own.

I been enjoying this game a lot. I don't know why most vids have so many negative comments. I think people are approaching this game with a soulslike mindset when it's way more related to resident evil besides the semi bloodborne like combat.
