I'd rather devote resources to building bridges in areas that would see the greatest benefits, rather than in remote harsh environments.
First, lets imagine getting a bridge or tunnel being built between Long island and Connecticut. It's an infrastructure project that could rapidly reduce traffic jams in one of the worlds biggest cities. Yet, it's never been built. Other cities of equivalent size like Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Mumbai, and San Francisco, all have more impressive connection over wide stretches of water. It's disappointing.

The distances involved would also be immense, making it a very challenging and expensive endeavor. Additionally, the concept of a -bridge- is not applicable in space as space does not have a solid surface to build upon. Instead, space travel is currently achieved through the use of rockets and spacecraft.
