I think that if their is life beyond our own planet it's smart enough to stay away from us and by the small chance that they want to talk we should avoid them at all costs the Spanish were only two hundred to three hundred years more advanced than the Inca Aztecs and they were essentially exterminated through the diseases that they carried and had no immunity to the same thing will happen here and to us unless we are prepared to send a small one way delegation to meet and talk and consider trade we should avoid and we must think what are we giving up for the new technology that will soon become more available to us in our daily lives

There's also a slight possibility that we are the most advanced civilization in the universe and in the future we could be the ones attacking other planets. Scientists fail to realise that, for aliens it-s not important to have a planet that support human life and our prominent survival.
For them, any planet can be a perfect candidate if they-ve adapted in that particular environment and temperature in respect to all the harmful gases that are obnoxious for us, not for them.
