Remember that when you look at something, you're actually looking into the past because light takes time to travel. The fact we can see this black hole from 12. 5 billion light-years away means it is 12. 5 billion years old and we are seeing it as it was 12. 5 billion years ago, not how it is today. I believe the universe is about 14 billion years old, which would make J2157 one of the oldest black holes in the universe.

I don-t think it-s a black hole. I think the star burnt out and becomes dark mass but nevertheless it-s still a planet which explains why when things gets to it it crashes into the burnt out ball destroying self. This is my theory and that answers why no light can pass thru it.

Well i mean. it's June 2022 and there is literally a black hole in the middle of the sun. go take a slightly zoomed in picture of the sun. look at the picture indoors later on when your eyes readjust. you'll see it. it's a black circle. in the middle of the sun. or. -the sun-
