I get it this is a fake what if. Like what if the atmosphere vanished or the moon flew away.
But sooo many people get what they feel is facts from stuff like this. And even you at the end doesn't understand how safe these are.
So, U. S. reactors CANNOT explode in a nuclear bomb fashion. You sorta touched on that. Nor can they explode from chambering O2 or H2 or ANY gas build up because of their design. You couldn't even make them do it intentionally as they would just go into meltdown. Which just renders them inert and unusable.
No dangerous leaks in the U. S, EVER, let alone massive radiation exposure. The -leaks- that people read about today are from Tritium on n off from several over the DECADES.
Not going to go on and explain it all but it's safe they stop it, it happens but soon won't and all is well.
THIS is the green energy wanted and it should be the cheap energy we all need. If politicians and mainly fearmongering demorcrats would get of the way. Just steam engines people. VERY SAFE nuclear heated water steam engines. That's it. Take a tour of one. You'll actually learn something.

The only scenario (nuclear talk aside) where this would occur is if a massive solar flare hit Earth and destroyed the entire grid. The reactors would switch over to emergency generators, then to batteries, and once they die, everything goes nuclear.
Also, contrary to its depiction in _Command and Conquer_, nuclear reactors -do NOT- explode like nuclear bombs due to using uranium instead of plutonium for fuel
In addition, most radiation deaths are due to opportunistic infections caused by the death of all bone marrow, which supplies the immune system, but extremely high doses destroy even nerve cells and brain cells, causing death by total organ failure

nuclear energy, Small modular reactors are actually the best clean energy alternatives, very safe, and don't kill endangered birds like wind turbines or fail in sudden freezing cold fronts like the ones in texas did, saying wind and solar is a better cleaner alternative is a dangerous myth, as they only last for 20 years, vs a Nuclear reactor that can function for a century if properly maintained, then with the waste of solar and wind, you'd have massive landfills of old windmills and broken solar panels that are made of toxic components and do more harm to the evironment

Very interesting, but, impossible. In order for uranium to undergo a nuclear detonation it needs to be HIGHLY enriched, I think the Hiroshima bomb was at a ridiculous 80% or so. Reactor fuel is 5% enriched, so a nuclear explosion is impossible. During a meltdown, hydrogen explosion is possible (fukushima, and, chernobyl was like a pressure cooker with immeasurable amounts of pressure.

Put this in perspective if Chernobyl fully melted down and hit the pocket of water under the nuclear reactor Europe would be uninhabitable - that is crazy. but some times I think the reason why we don-t exceede too the next level of our Conscience is because we keep on doing shi like this and end up killing the human race -.

Is this a joke? You do realize it is physically impossible for a reactor to explode like a nuclear bomb, right? The most that can happen is a meltdown, where the cooling system fails or stops working and the reactor overheats.

I like to imagine that intelligent life once habited the whole solar system, but like humans they are too curious and created nuclear power plants and other power source but something has gone wrong and they went extinct

We love through natural radiation. That energy is from space. So on Earth, nuclear explosion (man made bomb) makes it worse. The Chernobyl explosion was a set up.
