You should see the tunnels the Americans have been building all over the would under the ocean, unreal. Auckland Island has a Entrance to the most hardcore tunnel system in the world. First you find your way through the first concrete tunnels to find a hatch. Open the hatch to find the deepest drop of your life and a cable that runs down into the darkness that meets the water and beyond. You catch a lift to the bottom walk into the next tunnel where a Cale car is that takes you 10 days to travel to your destination. While traveling your in a massive dirty big hole under the Pacific ocean with the biggest water fall in the world in sight. At the end is another big hole with two small structures with another hole in the ground going deeper. Behind all of that is a bullet train. Anyway, head down the stairs walk left and jump a hole in the ground to the other side. Near the end on your right is a flyingfox that takes you for a ride into the darkness if you can't hold on you fall 600meters. At the end is a nut wing jail, pass all that and Start walking a two foot wide path for at least 7miles with a 350meter drop into the darkness. At the end you'll find people living in the darkness who were in fact born there. More holes to find then you'll find a bunch of nerve centers where people listen to NZ and Aussie. These people will never get out. Also there's other tunnels running from the US to NZs amazing green stone base, floor after floor carved out. Also other tunnels from other countries running all the way to NZs South Island mountains out of it aye what this world coming to?

What if this tunnel was floating? like with a line of ships tied together and anchored to the sea? storms and high waves would be a real problem though. But I think the tunnel in the video is actually possible if they find the lowest deeper points to avoid the ocean weight, but still, they would need to use a high resistance material that would not be crushed by its force.

What about 8. 7 km? How do you hold this together in normal sea currents much less a classic Nor'easter? Can you even fathom how strong the forces you are dealing with here?

My goodness, for some reason this sounds so familiar, as if I had heard of it before. I wonder if I read about it in the past, say in a book called -A World Out of Time- written by Larry Niven in 1976? That would have been 45 years ago! Glad you people are finally catching up.

I would like to know what if that tunnel had a U form going from Point A to Point B, I am not good at science but would the energy generated by the fall be enough to reach Point B? If so would that be practical for traveling long distances? I mean like roller coasters.

This is ridiculous lol if it was somehow tethered to the bottom of the ocean it would be destroyed instantly by ocean currents, and building a structure like that on the sea floor isn-t even something we can do due to the pressure 5km under the surface.

We should invest more into making boring tunnels cheaper and more automated. I like musk's boring idea of 3d transportation as tunnels and fast trains can replace air and sea cargo transportations
