Explore the relationship between viruses and their hosts, and find out how the evolutionary adaptations of bats keep them safe from viruses. Consider a bat that is infected with several deadly viruses, including ones that cause rabies, SARS, and Ebola. While this diagnosis would be lethal for other mammals, the winged wonder is totally unfazed, and may even spend the next 30 years living as if this were totally normal because for bats, it is. Rabies does kill bats. at least sometimes. I ve seen bats sick with rabies during my work with the local health department and they have unusual behavior, just like other animals with rabies. I don t know if something goes wrong with their immune system that allows them to become sick instead of just being a carrier, but it does happen sometimes. Also, ALL bats should be considered to have rabies and therefore avoided by humans. They are important animals to our ecosystem, but we need to leave them alone!

Needless to say, don't eat bats! In fact, if we stopped exploiting animals for food etc, we would eliminate most zoonotic diseases, like the current pandemic. As the video implies, we are not going to get viruses that invade plants.
One more reason

Recent studies indicate that telomere shortening is not the cause of aging it is just another result of aging, because telomeres can made actively grow by certain processes your body can do while you are young and cannot do as your epigenome deteriorates which we call aging.

That's true, the bat population is decreasing at an alarming rate. 10 years back I could see about 20-30 bats in evening but now they can be seen seldom.
Thanks to Ted Ed for bringing out this smouldering issue.
