Man, I'm not in denial that this is a good novel because it illustrated part of the culture of us Latin-Americans but I felt that it was way too longer without needing it, because some issues could have been resolved without stretching them for the next 5 chapters and so on with every issue through the story. I feel Garcia Marquez was complicating the story too much. And after all the story, the finale was a let down by all of the world he had created; at least from my point of view.
Anyway it is a good novel anyways, just a bit too slow and tedious.

This is perhaps my favorite book, and I honestly think being a Colombian and having an understanding of our dramatic history, plus living my childhood in a town so similar to Macondo lets me enjoy the book even more. I've read it twice and now I'll try to read the English translation. Btw great visuals by Ted-ed, it really captures the essence of the book! I'm sharing the video with my anglophone friends!

Thank you so much. I was looking for something to listen to, as I am really worst at my reading right now, I tried reading this amazing book about 1. 5 years ago, new to this genre, I was totally overwhlemed by the absurd things happening and yes so many Aurelianos. But after watching this, I kind of miss that village and I am ready to dive back.

Where no one will be able to decide for others how they die, where love will prove true, and happiness be possible. And where the races condemned to a hundred years of solitude, would have at last and forever a second chance on earth wow

Some of these videos are absolutely terrible. Instead of providing professional description of the work, its themes and impact on society, the narrator spends most of the time revealing the plot. This is just lazy.

I read it in English, so maybe I missed something. But it went in circles and ended up totally hopeless and scared me of family histories for life. It just seemed unnecessary hyped and tedious.

I am in the midst of reading this (about 60 pages in) and so far it is definitely not a traditional story, and a bit challenging to process but this video motivates me to keep on reading: )

This is my third attempt to listen to this video, but, every time, after five seconds, can't stand the terrible voice of narrator.
YouTube get some good narrator.

If u got nothing better to do then read it. Fortunately I have a life. He got a noble prize? Really. More reason not to read it. Sound like a reincarnation story.

but the moral of the story is exactly the opposite. Those condemned to solitude do not have a second chance, it's the closing line of the book
