Huh. Well. Let's see here.
I just got out of a toxic relationship with a girl. We calling her amber for now.
Yes I feel all these things.
I'm out down after school talk with her, she made me feel terrible for sharing negative things with her, she expected me to listen to her drama all the time, take her side every time, agree with everything she thought, forced me to try and like new people forced out to my life. She FORCED me to like people.
So I did everything I could. When I had a problem she either ignored it or made a gotcha comic of her being an angle helping me. Broken. She fixes me. But that's not what I needed. I don't need to be told broken an unfixable without her. I don't need a hero or an angle in my life. I just wanted some other to listen. To AT LEAST listen to me. You don't have to agree with me, you don't even have to like me. I just need someone to listen. But that was to much to ask for her.
She thinks she is right about everything. Her parents tell her she is a perfect angle. She thinks she doesn't do anything wrong and tells me everything is my fault. She punished me for things I didn't even understand. She kicked me out, blocked me, and hurt me without even explaining anything. She took everything the wrong way when I tried to explain.
She told me I do it tell her things. My troubles. But she just. Stabbed me a thousand times over every time I did. She made herself look perfect. And I was evil a demon who was broken and crazy. Unfixable.
It hurts me so badly I'm trmatized to even open up to people of my negitio feelings. I can't tell anyone with out the fear of being physically, or emotionally hurt now. I have trust issues now I'm closed off. I know it's bad to hold these negative feelings but I just don't know what to do with them now.
So I out them in a story. One character going through the same things I am. Doesn't some my problem but it honestly helps a lot. Sometimes it actually helps me solve a problem and reminds me to keep an open mind.
But this was a great video. Gave me good advice. Thanks for every! Keep making mindful videos like these

I was thinking about it for a time now. I'm a introvert, I also have Asperger, and it take so much time to get a diagnoses that I developed depression and anxiety, but because of health problems of my mother and financial problems, I'm not receiving the proper treatment. I'm a big emotional mess. I simple CAN'T show my emotions to the point it's painful. And because I barely show any kind of emotion, my family never gets how down in the hole I am.
I feel horrible to want some kind of understanding when my mom is so bad, but I just can't stop thinking that I'm being neglected emotionally for years.
I'm sorry f it became a vent comment, but I think I needed a little bit of that. I just wish I could find a relationship. I don't know why, but intimacy feels so scary to me, but all I want is someone that can at least try to understand me and stay by my side.

I fit to every signs. my parents just don't meet my emotionnal need and then expect me do be a fonctionning 21 years old.
I just told them I have a addiction to my phone and asked them what I can do about it and all they say is take a job during the vacations so you'll be busy.
It won't stop me from coming late to the job because I read till 2 am. Nor will it stop me from arriving late to my job because I got lost into my phone early in the morning.
It will help a bit but not FIX the problem.
I am suppose to deal with it all alone AND be a fonctionning adult already at the same time.
I am sick of not getting help from the people that are supposed to love me the most.
All I get is critics and expectations.
No praised either, even for trying.
I am tired of them and my whole family (expect a selected few)

1. The other person predominantly focuses on themselves, often neglecting your feelings and needs.
2. The relationship is devoid of affection, missing comforting gestures like hugs or hand holding.
3. Communication is lacking; they might give you the silent treatment, avoid issues, or avoid expressing their feelings.
4. You harbor resentment towards them due to unmet emotional needs or the lack of validation.
5. You find yourself confiding in others before talking to them, seeking external validation.
6. There's an absence of arguments or disagreements, indicating a lack of emotional connection.
7. Despite being in a relationship with them, you feel profound loneliness due to a weak emotional connection.

My mother and my two half sisters left me when I was 5 year old alone with my father. Every sign applies to our relationship. And the worst of all is definitely loneliness. Loneliness has been the biggest issue in my life since I was a kid. Sometimes, when I am alone I get this big, intense, horrifying feeling of loneliness. It is indescribable. It makes me want to die immediately. In these moments everybody seems so distant, cold. Id be feeling like there is a huge wall between me and everyone and an huge, huge, amount of extreme sadness and despair.
Ive been having mental issues for over 10 years and I am 19. I have Borderline Personality Disorder. What I want to say is: This is the worst.

I never thought a video could summarize how I've been enduring all this time. Often times, I thought to myself that what I am feeling right now is probably just myself being clingy or needy. I feel like they are far-fetched when we are talking, it's like my voice doesn't matter either. Slowly, I began to act like them too. I used to be a very fluent, easygoing around friends and very affectionate, yet now I feel more of a burden. I feel like I lack everything and I just want to stop feeling like this. I'm afraid to break it off with them because I am attached. But, it's slowly destroying me. I can only contain so much resentment.
Thank you psych2go for this. I love you so much.

I need to vent.
I've had a bad day, worse than others. So imma tell the story of my day, so my bestie left me on read, then i go downstairs to go and eat dinner. As i was walking downstairs my brother says something but i couldn't understand what he said, i didn't really hear it. I look back to ask what he said and i literally fall downstairs. I get up and my brother says karma (he's 25 y/o. Then i tell this story to my friend bcs i was mad and she just thinks it's funny, i say it's not funny and she says hahahaha it is funny and then my mom is mad at me bcs i've had a bad grade.
I can't do this anymore.

If I were a wealthy man,
Such things I'd give to thee:
All gauges and guises
Of umpteen surprises,
And wealthy I'll someday be.
If I were a clever man,
Such things I'd build for thee:
All manner of modes
Of humble abodes,
And clever I'll someday be.
If I were a travelling man,
Such things I'd bring to thee:
All features and faces
Of faraway places,
And travelled I'll someday be.
If I were a braver man,
Such things I'd promise thee:
All valour in verses
Of tethering curses
Will someday be set free.

Me and my mom neglect each other, I didn't usually argue with her but I got so tired of her just screaming at me for not being polite in public even when I was 9 years old or not giving me a choice that I started telling her to shut up, it hasn't worked out. I think I'm emotional because I was teased and shipped with a bff since kindergarten, my parents never helped, I told them about it many times and they didn't help, the teacher was the one who helped, my sister is my mother figure at this point, my sis helps with homework, she's fun. I love my sis.

My parents never intended to be neglectful and always tried their hardest to provide what I needed for me but they were never there for me emotionally. If Id be crying and go to them theyd listen to me. If I got hurt when I was little, theyd comfort me. But only when I came to them, when I asked them for comfort or help. They never come to me to offer support or love unless I need it. That makes me feel like I have to carry everything by myself and not say anything because even when Im struggling it doesnt feel like they put the effort in to helping me.

Ummm I have a question about number 2, because I had these situation and I was the one giving cold shoulder, but. it was a bit complicated. I tried giving this physical way to connect as much as I could, but I have a problem with it. So. what about these situation when tough of someone isn't always the thing I need and it can be disguasting for me? Even if I want, there are few days I can do this without any but. Do I neglect someone's emotional needs when I need to stay at distance? :/ I am always afraid I do it even when I don't want to.
reply

To be honest before, my siblings would always be first and I would always distance myself to the point I just don't want to do with them but I always want attention but I dont like it, I don't show much emotion any more but get angry even more I do or supposed to. Yes I'm fine, and is it good that I have control over my feeling's cause that was what my teacher said when we had
Sel (social emotional learning, I think, and my mom wants to see me be happy since she also went through the same thing when she was small.

If you are still young and you are being neglected by a parent this way, inform yourself online about narcissism and assess if your parent has that. They probably will not admit it, but if you can conclude that they might have this illness you gain independence through your knowledge. As soon as you can, distance yourself from that person and start your own life in freedom with people that truly care about you. But always watch your own character: you might have ended up damaged as well. Take care!
reply

My emotional needs are currently being met quite well. I'm unsure that my partner can say the same, though he's expressed many times that I meet his needs quite well too. When I was connected to a narcissist, affection was usually present, but so was resentment and that little piece of whatever, the one that very subtly (or sometimes screamingly) announces that something's wrong. I'm so grateful for family and friends that love me!
reply

Oh this is my childhood in a nutshell! I respect my mom for raising my brothers and I on her own w/only help sometimes from my Grandma, but she was a harsh woman. Now she's 67 and still claims I owe her for raising us! On top of it, I suffer from expressing my feelings 2 my husband, showing true vulnerability, and being a sensitive wife! That's y our communication stinks. Men like emotional women, they just won't say it upfront.
reply

Isn't it normal to take a break from a person though if they keep hurting your feelings? I know it would be good to talk it out and let them know how you feel, but I think taking a break is good if you need to calm your mind for a few days. I suppose it is better to communicate that, but I don't see that as abnormal or emotional neglect, unless it is never explained or talked about.
reply

I wouldnt say I was abused as I had such a loving family, however when I was 12 my older brother had a severe mental breakdown and so my parents catered to him a lot more than my younger brother and I. It wasnt that they didnt love us they were just so busy with my brothers mental health and his suicidal tendencies, that me and my brother were unintentionally neglected
reply

Kids can scream at their parents that they hate them, it's just what some kids resort to, I was that kind of kid, only my mom would scream back at me that she hated me too. And this sounds like my childhood. My mom has bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. I have bipolar disorder, social anxiety and avoidant personality disorder.
reply

Welp i definitely have emotional neglect. My mother checks many of these boxes off.
Question:
How do i fix this, i have 3 more years about left with her stuck in my life until i can move out.
So what should i do until then? Should i try and fix the relationship? Or should i just drop it and cut ties with her altogether and ignore her?

reply

I realised I had emotional neglect from my dad, but now I realise that I also have emotio al neglect from my mom, and that their conflict avoidance strategies forced emotional neglect between my siblings and I that carried over into us trying and failing to have friends without knowing how to emotionally connect with someone

I'm not good at advice, may I try suggesting a movie?
Watch The Sinister movie starring Ethan Hawke.
Remember to turn off lights and wear headsets.
I watched this movie after quite a time.
What an experience it was. Loved it!
Also, Before Trilogy starring again Ethan Hawke is another suggestion.

random story: my mom is heading for some important stuff, i was on my pc doing stuff, she checked on me for a bit, and she really just wanna know how's my day and then she kissed me, and as soon as she leave, I just burst out in tears, i can't stop crying, like idk why. i just feel like i needed that.

2: 12 And they act like you have no reason for resentment and you're just wrong. And they deny that you ever suffered from emotional neglect, even if it's so obvious to anyone who knows what emotional neglect is and you try to explain it and they act like you've got problems and that you're attacking them.
reply

I have mostly lived in a state of emotional neglect right from birth. And I have great shame and guilt over my own emotional neglectfulness, and no matter how much I try to be aware of it and inform people about my difficulties and shortcomings, all my relationships result in severe loneliness.
reply

I think I'm the one neglecting my relationships, but not on purpose. Depression and anxiety make me isolate myself from all my loved ones. This makes me feel really bad, that I'm a bad person for treat them this way, and that they deserve better. I really don't feel worthy of their love. :/
