Seeing the decline of Rome, Constantine's mother devised a plan to make Rome immortal by becoming a religion. To hide the power of this entity it delegated authority to other cut-out entities and reduced the obvious optical size of itself down to what is known as The Vatican which is a city-state unto itself and became the spiritual guide of a three city-state empire that controlled the Western hemisphere. The financial city-state of this empire is inner city London which is being dismantled now as this is being typed out. The third city-state of this now crumbling empire was Washington, D. C. which was the military arm of this triad known as, The Empire of the City, which is depicted by the three blue stars on the flag of Washington, D. C.
A war is being fought right now to destroy this empire in order to free all of humanity on our planet even as you read this.
The Plan is you and has been termed, The Great Awakening.

In the works of Roman chroniclers, the Eastern Empire was called Byzantine soon after its foundation in 395, thus contrasting it with the Western, Hesperian Empire. The first recorded use of this term was in the writings of Priscus. It was also used by Malchus Philadelphian, Ammianus Marcellinus, and Jordanes. The term also appears in the works of Patriarch Photius and in the Suda, but more as a synonym for Constantinopolitan. After the fall of Rome in 476, the need to separately designate the Eastern and Western Roman Empires disappeareda single Roman Empire remained, and the term, having lost its functionality, effectively fell into disuse. It was reintroduced into scholarly usage by Western European historians a millennium later, after the fall of Byzantium.
The first true emperor of Byzantium was Diocletian, and the first emperor of the Western Roman Empire was Maximian Hercules!

Because Constantinople could no longer protect the old city of Rome & no longer showed interests in protecting it.
The Pope’s until Zachary all made attempts to work with the Empire but because of constant pressure in the east. What was left to send to the west besides the locals of a thin strip of territory in central/northern Italy
That’s the initial justification.
The second & much more petty one
Irene was a woman who usurped her rightful son from his throne. So she unintentionally gave Pope Leo III a pretext to claim the throne was vacant when it never was.
Leo III just decided he had the authority to crown Emperors one day & manifested a fake ass document the Donation of Constantine to justify it.

A big thank you to Knowledgia! The Holy Roman Empire was, indeed, a truly magnificent machine of compromise. From the Papal-officiated coronation at [01: 14] to the fragmentation of power at Verdun [09: 08], does this stand as a testament to exceptional administrative prowess, or merely a sign of weakness within the central government In your opinion, how was an entity so lacking in unitylike the Holy Roman Empireable to endure for over a millennium Let's discuss!

Godfrey of Bouillon, of crusader fame, was the duke of lower lotharingia and maregrave of Antwerp, making him the closest thing to a belgian ruler at the time, in the 10th century there was a king of lower lotharingia called Sventibold, the Belgian pop band Clouseau has a song called het land van sventibold basically singing about Belgium with most listeners not realizing it! I love historic references and tidbits like that: 3

I have a land, but 50 Km away my uncle has the other and my mother has another 70 Km southwest from my land. So this Kingdom a pacthwork of realms. Very weird in our actual conception of continuous land to make a country. And to defend as well.
ven Historians who doesn't study the Holy Roman Empire understand this ancient relationship network mess.
It demands us to watch twice to understand well.

One relies on constructed claims, symbolism, and perceived legitimacy to justify its identity as Roman. (HRE)
The other is grounded in continuous Roman law, Roman citizenship, Roman education, Roman institutions, and a population that consistently identified itself as Roman. (Medieval Rome/Byzantium)

I visited the Old Town Hall in Regensburg, Germany last year. Just incredible. The Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) in Regensburg, Germany, is a historic 13th-century complex in the city center that served as the seat of the Perpetual Imperial Diet from 1663 to 1806

The Holy Roman Empire was dissolved on 6 August 1806, when the last Holy Roman Emperor, Francis II of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, abdicated his title and released all Imperial states and officials from their oaths and obligations to the empire.

You should work on your oratory skills. You shouldn’t pause where it isn’t appropriate or stress words that aren’t meant to be emphasized when you’re simply narrating, as this makes the video difficult to follow.

But then, can we say that the European Union is to some extend a resurrection/continuation of the Holy Roman Empire, where it preserves peace, manages disputes and tries to act as a single body while being fragmented

Two very simple reasons why the HRE ever came into existence is that the Papacy didn't like the Romans and the Pope wanting to save his ass from getting killed so turned to the Franks for protection.

Sacrum Imperium Romanum - It was Holy, Roman and an Empire. The most powerful realm during the European medieval period. Thanks for the video, even though it's not one of your best.

Good questionthanks for sharing. Do you think the Holy Roman Empire existed more for real power, or just to maintain the illusion of a unified Christian empire
