This is really a dumb idea for a video. Many, many states shrunk between the time their territory was acquired by the United States and the time they became states, and many of them shrunk proportionately far more than California. Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, New Mexico, and many others. Michigan was _huge_ before it became a state. But the biggest shrinkage of all was that of Virginia, which in its original form arguably included half of the United States. The real point of interest would be states that have changed their sizes _after_ becoming states. And this is a rather exclusive club. Make _that_ video, Knowledgia.

And I sort of agree with it, it would be a nightmare for sure to get done, mainly due to politicians getting in the way, but I agree as many states were shrunk back when '20 miles' would have been a whole day trip for many people. Now we have at home work, you can get something from Asia or Europe shipped to your door, sometimes within 24 hours, people who do commute, may live in one county, or even state, but work in a neighboring county or state, often within fifty miles in some cases. Perhaps regrowing states, in some cases, would be a good idea.

You can always tell when these videos about the US are made by non Americans. Not only because of the AI voice used but because there are certain details obvious to most Americans that foreigners frequently get wrong. The example I'll use here is calling California the Sunshine State. Florida is the Sunshine State. CA is the Golden State. Each state has it's own motto; Washington is the Evergreen State, Texas is the Lonestar State, Missouri is the Show Me State, New York is the Empire State and so on. Overall a good video but Americans will always catch mistakes like this.

You can always tell when these videos about the US are made by non Americans. Something I find intriguing, though apparently meaningless to US history, is that, as the 31st state, California's admission was the point when states that had been fully independent (13 founding states, Vermont, and Texas) became the minority compared to states carved out of earlier states or federal land. Shortly after, right around the US Civil War, and possibly a factor in it, was a shift in perception away from the US as a federation of sovereign states and towards a federation of dependent goverrnments.

Texas was larger than it currently is by about 100, 000 square miles. In 1850 it gave up the territory for $10 million. The entire Eastern half of New Mexico all the way to the source of the Rio Grande was Texas. The panhandle of Oklahoma was also Texas. There are three counties in that area, the middle one is Texas County. The southwestern corner of Kansas up to the Missouri River was part of Texas. Small portions of Colorado and Wyoming were also part of Texas.

This documentary has too many holes in it. When California became a republic in 1846 it did not belong to Mexico or USA. The capital of new republic was Sonoma. There was no slavery in California except a small servitude of the Spanish missions of the indigenous people. Yes, whites brought slaves with them however, those where individual cases that had nothing to do with the state or local governments. In fact it was illegal to have slaves in Mexico.

2: 50 Yes but fun fact: at this point of time most people didn't go through the US to get to California. It was quicker to take a boat from the east coast, travel to Nicaragua or Panama (or all the way south through the strait of Magellan, cross the continent, and take a boat north in the Pacific to California.
As crazy as that sounds, that was the fastest way. I guess because infrastructures didn't permit to travel easily by land.

I am thrived to see how people in the future would react to the US don’t passing Puerto Rico statehood yet for silly reasons even that is more populated than at least 15 states and being part of USA much longer than other states when they were made part of the union

This video is pretty bad. In addition to the other inaccurate pieces pointed out in the comments, one additional one is calling all the Alta California, California, after its ceding to the U. S. by Mexico. It was unorganized territory, not California.

You didn't mention that Mexico tried to get the British to take over California so the Americans wouldn't but the British had just settled the Oregon Territory boundary and did not want more problems.
