Plus your impecible manners and good taste led you to only touch on the most disturbing aspects. As captive Ukranian women filled the harems of the Ottomans, legions of men from the West and Middle East seek Philipinas. The soul-crushing part is that Philippine culture features a near pre-industrial devotion to family. That they feel they must send cherished family members to all parts of the world, some of them quite hostile, has long given me pause.

When the poorest people have more than enough money to reliably pay the rent they bank their money and the banking system has greater strength of lending and the government has greater resources for infrastructure. This improves the value of the currency. This was an economic theory advocated Keynesian economic conditions also known as the savings rate theory. It is a theory that is generally true.

Spaniards did not conquer the Philippines because the Philippines didn't belong to them they invaded it and colonized and killed a lot of people they introduced Christianity by force. those who didn't follow were killed the same as what happened to the American Indians.

What I took from learning about the Philippines is that they are a cultural fusion. They stick to their own culture and traditions but adding a _touch_ of Spanish and American culture. Whether you like that or not, it still makes them unique in a way.
