Today we're going to talk about SPAAAAAACE, but not like stars and satellites and stuff. Instead, we're going to talk about geographic space. In geography, we can look at the world and the places and spaces we inhabit with four distinct lenses: space as a container, topologically, socially, and how we perceive it. On this journey, we'll make stops in Antarctica, Haiti, and China as we introduce the tools you'll need from surveying and remote sensing to community-created maps to help us better understand and navigate our world. FOR ME: -
'Space' is energy itself. Wherever space is, energy is. Wherever energy is, space is. They are one and the same thing. And for me, the 'gem' photon is the energy unit of this universe that makes up everything in existence in this universe. -
'Time' is the flow of energy. -
'Time' (flow of energy) cannot exist unless 'space' (energy itself) exists. And 'space' (energy itself) that does not flow (no flow of time / energy) is basically useless. An entity cannot even think a thought without a flow of energy. If all the energy in the universe stopped flowing, wouldn't we say that 'time stood still'? Time itself would still exist, it would just not be flowing, (basically 'time' stopped. -
But then also, how space and time are linked in what is called 'space time', (energy and it's flow.

I recognize the importance of crowd-sourced information and think you are right about the potential of open street map - -BUT- just like wikipedia it's not really a source you can rely on exactly -because- of the crowd sourcing nature of it. I'm a paramedic and I'd use a paper map before I use open street map to find the incident location.
[Side note: We are required to have good local knowledge anyway and all rigs are equiped with a frequently updated GPS system, so it's rare that I need anything else - but still. ]

I appreciate that you started the video by zooming in to Sri Lanka as -your community-, not the US/Europe. Even if that was only a second, it shows that -space- and the study of it is not a West-centric idea. Appreciating the images from all regions of the world for the same reason. A thumbs up and thank you for you from Germany. And Happy Holidays: )

This video is so well made and clearly explained. It's a tougher topic than I expected, but I think I got most of it. Lol It's hard to adjust to hearing -space- and not thinking --outer space-, - but I'll get there. Thanks Crash Course team!

Gravity. All stuff pulls and or pushes. Right. Am I right?
What two things do neither? Magnets and light.
Magnets form fields. Light forms waves.
This is what I hear. Make sense.
Now Avima. Hears e=mc2.
